Re Molly thanks for the info, typical we are busy the weekend of the Aviemore event will book mark it for next year though. I will let you know if I am a mushing enthusiast after the experience wink

Re Lon, good idea with the kerbs. You reminded me that when I was a student the University Hiking club of which I was a member ran a sponsored walk annualy of 55 miles from the city centre out to the suburbs and back through the night. I did it twice (stopped 9miles short the first time but thats another story). Boy did you know those kerbs by the end of it something you didn't even notice became a monumental effort to step up or down.

Struggling to motivate myself flaring from weekend food but feeling better today.
Yesterday walkd 2 miles (school run)
Today 1 1/2 hour ride
Lugged 50m chicken fence up garden and set it up as we lost a hen to a fox last week sad

Ally,

Yep, at my age and with this back pain..I have maybe 50 minutes to work out. climbing stairs, curbs increases the amount of energy required as well as strengthening the center core...

also walking backward 30 feet ....

good job!

Go team!!! What a fox in the hen house?????

Molly, I love seeing you here! cheerleader

How's it going for you dear? heart

Yesterday I swam 1,000 yds and walked a mile VERY slowly with my sister.

Today I cleaned house for 3 hours, and now I'm going to go make lasagne for dinner.

It's been 22 months today since we lost our girl. Some days still, like day before yesterday, I can't tell whether I'm sick with grief or AS. I have an intimate understanding of that term "sick with grief". It truly is the most bizarre ill feeling some days.

Love you all, and thanks so much for sticking with me these past many months. It means the world.
heart

Erica, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Sometimes I walk on my street (has a hill), sometimes on my treadmill, but yesterday we walked at a park. I have a long way to go to get back to the level of fitness I had before this flare. My foot still hurts pretty bad, so it's still hard to walk for too long.

HOW do you swim 1,000 yards?? That seems like a lot to me!

Jamie, when I first got in the pool - almost 4 years ago - I was in so much pain that I just dangled in the deep end with one of those floaty noodles. I couldn't sit at all, couldn't walk well... it was a big hit after being a long distance hiker for most of my life. Anyway, I worked with an exercise physiologist who said that the time I spent moving my muscles is what mattered. Eventually my husband started getting in the pool with me, because he drove me anyway. So I started swimming laps with him. One at first. Then 5.... then 8. Eventually I got strong enough to swim 1,000 yds in about 30 minutes, and that's the max I can do. I started this team, because I really needed people that could relate to the constant gruesome pain. Swimming slowly improved my mobility to the point that I can walk a mile or two once in a while.
