If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

In the days when I could hike, this was me on top of Mount Albert Edward, the highest mountain in Strathcona Park on Vancouver Island. Wish I could go there again. It doesn't look that bad but the top is actually quite a narrow strip.

Here's another photo taken on the way up there. This is at Hairtrigger Lake and the mountain is in the background. I climbed to the top with three other women. In this photo you can see that the mountain does come to a point!

Saturday: bike 30 miles (110 minutes) and 30 minutes stretching
Sunday: bike 21.5 miles (75 minutes) walk 3.5 miles (45 minutes) 30 minutes stretching
I didn't plan on both walking and riding, but my tire blew out...had to walk.

Thanks John. If I can just get this RA under control I will be headed up there again.

One of the reasons I love going up into the park is the wonderful clear pools and the stunted trees and the heather. If you loved those views, here's another. Anyone planning a vacation in BC, who still has the ability to hike, this is a wonderful place to visit.

Wahoo for cinnamon and codeine! I've been drinking cinnamon and honey tea for a couple of days... I don't know if it is to be credited with the way I feel, but it seems like my self-induced flare up is almost over. Tonight, just to be safe, I took 1/2 a codeine before I got into the pool, and swam 1,000 yds in 45 minutes. Still can't backstroke, that kills. What muscles are those in the lower back that only work while doing the backstroke? Any anatomy buffs here? Anyway, happy tonight! Go TEAM!

That does it Wendy, I am definitely coming across on the ferry as soon as spring arrives! What gorgeous pictures! How come it's so much prettier over on your side? I mean, the Olympics are pretty, but those mountains look like a combination of the Olympics and the Rockies with a few Sierra colors thrown in.

Ha, ha! Don't know why one person would want nothing more than to climb to the top of the highest mountain and look down, and another would travel the world and swim in a variety of pools, but think it is fascinating that they do.
The crucial difference here is that while the wild man standing on top of the huge jagged rock obviously lives to climb, I swim to live. I have hiked many mountain trails, but I stay on the trail. There is not, you may have noticed, a trail on that jagged rock. And OMG, rocks in the Sierra? Ever heard of sloughing? The Sierra is made of granite, and it's been upthrust so the layers slough of almost vertically when the earth wiggles. California earthquakes + huge sliding slabs of granite??? Veeewwwwyyy scawwwwyyyy wabbit! But whatever, ya'll g'head! Anyway, gotta give everyone a loud Go TEAM!
