If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Does anyone know if having a drink while on biologics is ok? I'm not one to mix meds with anything. I am going to a gathering tonight and wondering if 1 or 2 beer would be safe? I haven't really discussed drug interactions with my Rhemmy.

Hi, ELoney
I have a drug information pamphlet for Enbrel and under "May I drink alcohol while taking Etanercept? (brand name Enbrel)" it says...
You may drink alcohol while taking entanercept. However, if you are also taking methotrexate, you should only drink alcohol in small amounts because methotrexate and alcohol can interact and damage your liver.
I'm on Humira - have been since Jan this year - and I've taken a few drinks when I'm out without any bother.
As with anything though, moderation is the key. lol
Hope this helps.

Perfect, thanks very much. I'm not a big drinker nowadays but it's nice to know a few now and then wont hurt while on Enbrel. Looking back I use to drink allot but then again who doesn't when your in your twenties. I am 35 now and thankfully grew out of that stage in life haha.

I would echo Irish's comments--many a night I've had one beer since I started taking first Enbrel, and now Remicade, many years ago. Never had more than two, however, so would not vouch for anything beyond that, nor can I speak to the effects of liquor vs. beer.

I don't know about Enbrel, but I gave myself my second Humira shot today and just finished one nice and cold Moosehead. I'm about ready to get another. So far no problems.

As the others said, there should be no problem. These meds are not processed directly by your liver the way oral meds are. The caution against alcohol on some meds (like MTX) is the load it will place on your liver and kidneys. All things in moderation, including moderation. Hugs,
Kat
