Yes, I'm better now, but had to decide for many hours whether to go to hospital when it first happened.
Sandy Denny died from falling down the stairs--two days later, and I always think how she might have missed going to hospital.
Oddly or not, after it first happened I crawled into the Jacuzzi after taking MS Contin and felt Ok at first but perhaps I got out too fast because last thing I remember was looking in mirror thinking "ugh, I don't feel too energetic..." Then Annie was standing over me with the telephone giving directions to 911 operator. Guess I had passed out but when I came to I asked they not come. Second time that has happened over the years. I don't scare her on purpose...
Well, I could not feel any head injuries, so I just tried to 'listen' to signs I should go to hospital on my own and despite my sister's threats, I never went--next three days were just too busy and did not want to waste too much sleep time in hospital.
Well, more "do as I say and not as I do," but it is always better to get things checked out, but then I remember Heather O'Rourke and in that case it just did not matter!
I keep telling Annie my next doctor is Dr. G--guess she was sort of freaking out.
Well, I'm almost back to walking as normal as I usually walk, but not able to sit on that broken tailbone too long at a time, so limited time here.
Hello John Your accident makes for horrifying reading. You seem to be astonishingly up and about considering... I hope you are going to take a little easy and give yourself and your injuries time to heal. Ouch! Hope you feel better very soon.
Is this a broken coccyx John? Very painful Bruised mine first time and second time round well and truly broke it.... Had to use a donut cushion for *years. Still jips me from time-to-time.
Not much you can do, but can recommend a donut cushion, either blow up or the sorbo kind. Best to you - and take better care man.
What an ordeal you went through. If it's not one thing it's another! Good thinking to get it checked out in the hospital. When in doubt, check it out.
I am happy that you seem to be recouperating quickly. If anyone knows what to do, it's you! Now take your own advice.
I bought this cushion called "Seat Solutions" at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was a life saver for Danny when couldn't sit for a few weeks. It's inexpensive.
sorry to hear about your fall, does not sound like much fun, hope you are recovering OK.

Hey, John... Since you'll be strained to keep still, here some songs you may listen on YouTube. This week died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ariel Ramirez, great music writter and player, wich fused "academic" music and folklore. He composed "Alfonsina y el Mar" (Alfonsina and the Sea), "Misa criolla" (Creol Mass) and much other songs. For you, three of them:
I send those songs full of irony and good feelings, of course, because we know how adamant are you in front of suffering. Have a good convalescence, John.
Yikers! The very area my doctor warned me not to fall on. Hope you are taking care of yourself, resting and nourishing yourself. Stairs and I do not get along.
Peace, Dragon.

And thanks to everyone else for their support and encouragement!
Thanks for the music; I always like to listen to music in down times and once, when I was doing terrible with AS, I crawled into the health club at 3aM and some African tribal music was playing--males with gravelly voices but it was quite soothing.
Both before that, and since verified through questionable authorities (but more than one!), I always thought that Baroque music in particular had healing qualities albeit nothing matches diet, antibiotics, or beestings...
Dang, John, that sounds very scary and sounds like it sucked with a capital S. I am so glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were; when I imagine myself in your shoes, I just cannot even imagine how frightening that must have been. And, while it might sound like I'm being flippant here, I am saying this without even a hint of humor: One of the things that had to have eased the fear and the aches and pain immediately after you fell was the simple realization that you lived through a fall that bad. It gives me hope that if your spine was able to make it through that, mine could too.
I hope you're feeling much better now, my friend, and please, take it easy while you're recoving from this one.
Brad
