I have had a hard time figuring out what to eat as well because it took me a long time to stop flaring. So whenever I added a food I did a search on this site to see how many people reacted to it. These are the foods that I found are safe with most people. Any leafy green, inluding fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro. Any berry fresh or frozen. Broccoli, cucumbers, celery, cherries, grapes, olives, tofu and coconut. The other foods you have to test with iodine (and or on yourself) to see if they are starchy or you react for other reasons ie inulin.

Good luck and be patient, it takes time.

Annette

I thought tofu contained starch? Being derived from soy beans, I just assumed it was a starchy product. confused

I'm not on NSD but I tried it for several weeks a year ago when we thought I had AS. A later diagnosis was RA so I just went back to focusing on minimizing grains and avoiding gluten (I'm a celiac).

Ok Annette I will introduce those all this week. I need to broaden my food spectrum. I have lost 6/7 kg now in less than 6 weeks...I need to slow it down.

Tofu was another I had forgotten about.

Cheers

Keith,
I had a similiar rapid and dramtic reaction to the diet - like you within a month or so of starting, most of my systems ended. I carried on having occasional (realtively minor) flares however for a couple of years, but I managed to elimiate all symptoms when I stopped drinking beer. I know most people can tolerate beer fine and I have no idea why, but since stopping the beer I have been a few years completely symptom free. I can drink other kind of alcohol no problem however.
For the record, I have no problem eating any vegetables, sugars or dairy and have now been on the diet 10 years.
Regards,
Charlie

That is a worry! No beer. It is my only vice.

It is sort of in the back of my mind that I may have to reduce sugars in the future...at this stage NSD and no dairy will do for now.

Cheers Charlie.
