Hi Brad, it really happened so fast that I didn't have time to be scared but after I fell, I was afraid to move...now this morning the blue & purple has spread out, it looks awful and you can see the outline of the step across my lower back, it looks like somebody hit me across the back with a 2x4...the oxy is strong enough but it makes me so sick to my stomach that I'm having a hard time with it...unfortunately you're right in thinking that the worst is yet to come, parts of my booboo are still numb as if I've been shot up with novacaine or something, the whole thing was numb at first and as it wakes up, it hurts! I'm getting fairly good treatment here...we were due to leave today to the Bahamas but I'm not going, the kids left this morning and the other mawmaws are watching the babies, so I have the week off... All day long it's just me and the dogs and Mike takes care of the meals, so I'm good... But if I ever need back-up, I will call yall!

Hi C.C., it looks even worse today and the numbness is wearing off.. No, I can't take the oxy...it just makes me too sick, the kids are in Houston right now, I was supposed to be with them, they're flying out to Nassau today for a week, I really wanted to go...

Really good.. I am having some muscle cramps in the leg.. they expected it since they had to do so much work where the tendon and calf muscle meets to release the tendon to make it long enough to attach to the heel.. The incision looks great and had the staples and stiches out Monday.. that was not fun .. Getting around has been a challenge I am using the wheelchair now b/c my achillies on the left leg is bad and was not takinging the hopping around well.but over all doing great.. Thanks for asking

Peace,
Tamara

Well, that's good to hear, Tamara and my next question was going to be about the stiches and staples. ...I'm sure it's going to take some time to heal being that the muscles and tendons are so involved, I hope the recovery continues to go well...

Yeah, I was afraid of that, but I didn't want to say anything more than I did and make you worry more about what might lie ahead. I just hope that this nasty bump heals quickly and that your pain is as minimal as possible. Most important, I hope there are no long-term effects from this nightmarish fall. As for the oxy, yeah, one time when my ex's doctor gave her a small script for a fairly low dose, it really completely dulled her pain but pretty much made her throw up every time she took it. She's had it a few times since then for short periods of time, and each time she became more tolerant; now, whenever she needs a short-term oxy "booster," it does not upset her stomach at all. Here's hoping your stomach adjusts to the oxy very rapidly.

Man, that really sucks about missing out on the Bahamas trip, but I think you absolutely made the right decision (yeah, like there was ANY decision involved there, eh--the fall pretty much decided for you on this one!). Hope you get to make up for the miss in the not too distant future.

Heck yeah--the Windsor border is only 10-12 miles away, so I can be on Canadian soil in a hurry! Which reminds me, I have to remember to get my passport card, and soon. If I forget, I won't be touching any Canadian soil until I do get one! lol

Hi Brad, yep, the wound is wide awake now and a little more colorful... I'm doing alright on the oxy today, I have some Phenigen(sp?) to go with it, I called my doctor's office and they called it in...I wish I could've gone with the girls but I gave my ticket to my daughter-in-law and she was so happy and I was glad for her...my fall isn't the reason I'm not going though, I had already canceled because of my rheumy appointment, which has now been rescheduled for Weds. the 22nd, which still would have interfered with the trip and that'll give me a whole week to heal anyway, so it all worked out...

Phenergan? You'll sleep great! I'm sorry you didn't go to Nassau! I went up to my roof deck and waived to your kids plane (it was more like a wine salute)!
