Ok,

How many of you are getting the flu shot?

Aren't we considered high risk because of our comprimised immune system?

Lisa

I was told NOT to get it since I'm on Enbrel, but have heard that people on Enbrel SHOULD get it because of compromised immunity.... So, truthfully, I don't know, which is pretty sad because I'm a nurse in a family practice office!! But then again, we only have a handful of pt's on Immunosuppresent meds, and I was on vacation during all the flu shot chaos and rule changing.

Rambling!! Sorry! Will be interested to find out.

Hi Lisa
I would definitely recommend getting a flu shot. I had mine this week. When I worked in theatres at the hospital, we always had the option of having them Now I have to have them with this disease. I wouldn't be without them. I have never had a full blown cold for years, thankfully.

Best thing, ask your doctor. I'm not getting a flu shot, but I am getting a pneumonia shot. Whatever you decide, DO NOT GET THE NASAL FLU MIST (FLU MIST). It is contraindicated for ALL people on biologics.

Stay well.

I always get it but haven't yet this year. Locally, there is none available and the rheumy didn't have his yet last week. Hopefully, I will get it next week. I have bronchiectasis and I do not want the flu again!

Hi Lisa, I generally get a flu shot. It's six of one, half dozen of the other as to whether it actually helps, but I figure, hey, what the heck, better safe than sorry. Right?

Hugs,

Kat

Lisa -

I was told to get one, and have. I am also on Enbrel, but was told I had to get it because of MTX. Last year I missed out and ended up not getting the flu anyway. I had to take proof of my immune system problems with me because they were not giving the shot out without proof.

Since the shortage it might be harder to get one now. I heard this morning that the manufacturers will have more available in Jan.

Take care,

Allison
