Sorry to jump in like this, but as a Leaf fan and having in-laws living in the Ottawa area, I couldn't resist. My sis-in-law gets her three girls to call me after the Sens beat the Leafs, and instead of saying hi, all I hear is the whole family laughing. Then the father-in-law and mother-in-law call to make sure I know the Sens won. So I'll say here what I say to them: "Come talk to me in April after we put the Sens out again."
As for Cherry, I am really ticked off about this. He has been saying for years that Europeans are the only players who wear visors. He's been on Ulf Samuelson, Yashin, Hossa, Alfredsson.... saying they don't care about NHL hockey or the Stanley Cup and they disappear in the playoffs. That they grow up dreaming about winning the World Cup. That Europeans are not tough enough to play in the NHL palyoffs, and on and on. No one said anything then. But bring the French Canadian into it and suddenly they are talking about it on Parliment Hill. The Language Police are all in an uprage. Give me a break. Cherry has always spoken from the hip. He has always been pro Canadian, and the CBC knew what they were going to get every Saturday night. The topics are pre-planned and the CBC could easily have prevented this by going over the discussion BEFORE the show. The CBC doesn't have the guts to fire Don and are hoping he will quit because the backlash would be huge. (Remember Ron's contract talk?) Cherry is Cherry. If the CBC didn't want everyone to know that it is run by those at Parliment Hill, then it is now too late.
That aside, Alfredsson is a free agent after this season, and as much as I might hate saying this, maybe Quinn was seeing how Alfredsson would look with Sundin and Roberts. (YAK!) Just an idea.
No one said life would be easy, just worth it.
