If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

so many health benefits seem to come from a calorie restricted diet and weight loss...... within reason of course.
thanks for the info. while it sounds like the info is more for OA, still useful info.

Yes, I'd agree that the recommendations do appear to be more for OA. Very low calorie and weight loss for OA would be useful, because excess weight does put extra wear on joints, and lead to OA. Autoimmune is different, though I would guess a lot of us could stand losing a reasonable amount of weight, which means that this diet could give an initial good effect. I think I'd rather do low starch or no starch though - at least NSD has slightly more rationale for AS (even if insufficient research evidence still, and it not working for some).

Hi there, I read about this as well. Found this article online that seems to give a bit more info: Express Article Also, this article: Sify Health The diet was trialed on OA sufferers, so I don't know how well it would work for us. However, the intriguing thing was that as opposed to other extreme diets, for some reason, the specific diet used by the Danish researchers did not lower bone density, which for us is key. Also, the patients we immobilized by pain, so they weren't exercising. They lost this weight without exercise. As I understand it, as they lost the weight, their pain levels and dependence on NSAIDS went down, and their ability to exercise was regained. Here's the thing, they don't say not to try the diet without a doctor's supervision. Also, it means going down to 440 calories a day at first, which is just this side of starvation. It's high protein and low carb, so if you're vegetrian, you won't be able to cope without meat. Nobody should try something like this without their doctor being on board. It's extreme beyond belief. But, if it helps and it's done safely, I don't see why not. You just have to ease back into healthy, regular eating habits after you've achieved the goal. All of that said, this is not for everyone living with arthritis. I think it would be best used by people who have been immobilized and have gained massive amounts of weight as a result. And, again, I'm going to harp on this, it should not be done without a doctor's supervision. Love and hugs,
