I thought I would let people know what I have accidentaly found is really helping get rid of my plantar faciitis! This is kind of on the other end of the 'odd' shoes spectrum grin

I wear rigger boots when I am doing gardening etc and more specifically for mucking out my friends horse and bringing her in through the mud. My previous cheap rubber pair were worn out and may have partly been the catalyst for my sore feet as they 'walked' my socks down forming a ridge under my arch.

My foot pain started as pains down the outside of my right foot then in my arch and then a VERY sore heel, only on the right foot.It hurt to flex my foot as well as any pressure on my heel and arch. I just had minor pains on the left ankle side. I could cope with the other aspects of AS but not being able to walk without pain took the biscuit. I walked with a limp for at least two months.

A friend said that the only way to help was to rest the foot, well that was impossible. At the same time I needed a new pair of rigger boots and decided to get a leather pair of better quality. I then discovered that these were sooo comfy. There must be some sort shock absorbing insole in them although it doesnt say because I found I could wear these without my heel feeling sore. Consequently I have worn them continualy for the last three weeks (bit of an odd sitght when out and about) but who cares if it is helping my foot.

They may be useful to try for someone else who may have a need for this type of shoe. These particular boots are DeWalt Rigger, it may be that other styles they do are just as comfy, I just thought I would share in case it helps someone else.

Ps I am also currently waiting on insoles that are being made from a mold (two months ago) which hopefuly will sort the now lesser aches down the outside of my foot due to a very high arch.
