Hi guys,

Been doing NSD while fighting off enterobactor and fusobactor. Trying to build up healthy gut with probiotics and lots of vegetables. Making some progression!
Though I am always hungry. I have always had insane digestion, even before all my stomach issues. Now I could eat 15 broccoli's, or kilo's of lean meat or fatty fish. But it doesnt work. I just get stomach pain if I eat that much stuff and I still feel hungry. Fat percentage is 10% now, which is low. I really crave nuts, potatoes, cookies.

I tried the following:
-Add a lot of olive oil > This is not good for my diarrhea. I do not think the intestines can handle that much fat. It's also a laxative.
-Eat fatty meat > saturated fats seem to damage the intestinal lining. I ate 2 parts of fatty bacon and felt terrible for 3 days.
-Eat more fruit > I only ate one kiwi every 2-3 days, because of the pathogens. This currently seems my best bet.
-Eat more nuts > Nuts do not seem fantastic for the gut lining, nor for the AS pain. Though the pain is less relevant for me now.

It's difficult to decide. My priority is getting rid of the pathogens. What do you guys think? Is the fruit a good idea? Does it really feed pathogens?
Currently I just did 'a bit of all of the above'. Some fatty meat, 2x low fructose fruit a day, a handful of nuts, a little bit of olive oil in each meal.

Hello, Bazel:

I also had extreme hunger when first on the NSD. The amino acid supplement glutamine helped me to some extent. I weighed about 180 pounds and took 1000mg per day: Between breakfast and lunch about 8 ounces of unsweetened concord grape juice and 500mg lysine. Repeat between lunch and dinner. The lysine helps to repair leaky gut, also.

Also, I prepared an over-cooked mixture: Cut up celery, bell peppers, onions, cucumbers, and tomatoes. This is really an augmentation to which I added toppings like alfalfa sprouts for their enzymes, various small amounts of cheeses, olives, and fresh cucumber spirals. This mixture made me sure I did not have a nightshade sensitivity; it is certainly not for everyone, but very easy on the gut.

I had colitis for a brief period after experimenting with the wrong antibiotics, and so I fasted for only 4 days. Also taking colloidal silver that I make (ionic/colloidal through electrolytic method).

The very diverse live active cultures in Stonyfield (or Brown Cow) yoghurt are also helpful, but I took maximum 2ounces per day to avoid problems.

I don't think that the kiwi or most other fruits which are tested safe will cause any reaction.

Hope this helps,

To John`s point.. I ate Stoneyfield Farms yogurt each morning with berries (blue, black, straw)...

I could tolerate both without issue, hopefully you can as well. I also emphasize probiotics, and maybe that helped with digestion.

Thank you guys. I am using probiotics. Yoghurt am sadly intolerant to.
But I will focus more on fruits and maybe fruit juice. It is good to hear that both of you fixed your guts while eating fruits still.
What do you mean with 'This mixture made me sure I did not have a nightshade sensitivity?' You mean by eating nightshades now and then, you keep your body tolerant to them? I eat tomatoes and bell peppers only once a week. I test slightly intolerant to it, but I do eat them to keep my body accustomed to it.

Thanks guys. Means a lot to me.

Hello Bazel,

I started in on diet back in March 2002... I was more sensitive at that time. Over the years I can now tolerate more than in the past.

In the States I supplemented with Natren`s Healthy Trinity probiotics at first... I took it prior to going to bed (away from meals) to help heal gut. I also think the 3 day apple fasts (Edgar Cayce) helped me quite a bit.

I can eat organic yogurt and natural ice cream now without issue.... fortunately ice cream in Argentina is much better than in States (and more natural).

Hi Bazel,

Sorry it's been so hard to find things to eat. Without starch it's really hard to get enough calories and feel full.

10% fat is really low.And there are much better choices than bacon. Fatty cuts of meat like pork ribs, lamb shank, beef shoulder (chuck, blade) are great because they are high in calories and gelatin, which is healing to the gut lining and to your joints. These meats are the mainstay of my diet and i do really well with them.

You could also try coconut milk-based dishes. I make Thai soups and fruit smoothies with coconut milk. Early on, when I could barely eat anything, coconut milk and strawberry smoothies were a life saver.

I still can't eat nuts without pain but I do ok with most fruits, and eat quite a lot of it. But most people I know with IBS do very poorly with fruit, especially in large quantities.

Given your history of gut issues and IBS you might be interested in looking up the GAPS diet. It's a practical and gradual approach for people with severe gut issues that can easily be done in a low or low starch way,

Good luck!

Jan 2017 - discovered NSD - 98% improvement in symptoms, continually amazed by my results, wish I'd found kickAS sooner
