If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Pain is back

Hi All, I have been on NSD for 2 years and was doing really well. Over the holidays I did not watch my diet as close and could have ate some starches (processed meats, BBQ with sauce, also found out that bacon I was eating for 3 weeks every day while I was away had maltodextrin in). I got first bout of iritis in December and now about a week ago, I woke up with lower back pain and also pains in my butt and hips (originally that's where the pain started). I have been back on strict NSD but the pain isn't going away. It is not as intense as it was at the beginning, but it is there and my stomach is also bloated and very constipated. ANy suggestions what's going on and how I can get back to previous low levels of pain? I know the diet work because it's been working for 2 years. Thank you.

Maybe fast for 2-5 days, until the pain goes and restart an elimination diet?

So sorry to hear it ranger. I was in the same boat after the holidays after eating pretty carelessly. By early January my fingers were stiff and swollen and my knees were screaming. The final straw (as it always is) was when the usual tendon in my groin/hip flared, followed by my left SI joint.
To pull myself out I got super strict with my diet again and took 500mg berberine 2x day for 12 days. And when that was done, went back to 2x daily probiotic (garden of life primal ultra has worked wonders for me). My pain is gone again though my starch tolerance hasn't fully returned.
For 1.5 years I had been doing a 'weed and seed' protocol - 2 weeks of berberine followed by 6-8 weeks of probiotic. My starch tolerance improved enormously from doing it. I was still taking a probiotic every day but hadn't bothered with berberine for about 6-8 months. The protocol has been life changing. It has allowed me to freely eat foods that used to trip me up, like apples and dates. And the occasional big cheat is surprisingly minor and passes fairly quickly.
I was in quite a bit of pain after the holidays but my indulgence was truly obscene - bread, noodles, pizza, pastry, sushi, etc. for weeks. I'm better now but my starch tolerance hasnt fully returned. I'm going to repeat the protocol a few more times and see...I'm hoping to go back to just the probiotic after that.
Hope you find some relief soon.

Thank you John and Kellybells - I went back to strict diet and things are slowly improving. I do lots of EVOO, have to try Borage seed oil. I will also look up Berberine.
Thank you again.
