Translated: Hi MattR. I would like to make the starch-free diet restricted. Only protein, fat and vegetables. But I have had problems with bowel constipation. An alternative would be to include fruit as it has fibers. But I have problems with fructose. How do you deal with it? Att Márcia.c.s.a

Hi Marcia,
You may want to try porridge made from ground flaxseed meal. It's all fiber.

Doc said Humira and other med options would no longer work and to try diet.i met with a nutrionalist who is an integrative medicine person and after a year of major blood tests, other tests and supplements as well as significant dietary changes I am pain free and drug free.

CONGRATULATIONS, on finding the best treatment for AS--and especially sticking with it!

It is always gratifying to hear from people along their journey of making this disease into an inconvenience, instead of a career.

Continued great

Welcome JoniL!
I'm happy you've found success.
I have an update on my son's condition. He's been on NSD for about 2 months with a few slip ups and flares and moments of wondering if this would work. We finished our wheat harvest and during those three weeks all of us were eating basically what he eats on the NSD. Last week he finally got in to see a Functional Medicine Doctor which was a Godsend. She tweaked the diet only a little and had some recommendations and after only a week on the probiotics she recommended, he is virtually pain free. First time since we started this journey! He cancelled the followup appointments with the rheumatologist. That was the guy that pushed for drugs and weekly injections. I'm so glad we found this diet and this forum, something that wouldn't have been possible before the internet.
