Patchy - I don't find the probiotic approach to be contradictory to antibiotcs. The general theory that I am working with the antibiotic approach is this:

1. Long term Kp overgrowth combined with instestinal permeability

2. Creates Kp reactive arthritis (ie AS) which ITSELF creates more permeability and inhibits healing (immune response towards Kp in GI tract)

3. Abx takes Kp overgrowth down

4. Probiotics and NSD inhibit future Kp overgrowth. GI tract has opportunity to heal.

Thanks guys, i greatly appreciate the support and opinions.

I am hanging in there with faith in the gut-experiments. I'm really confident i have leaky gut as consuming any alcohol, sugar, or caffeine causes chaos in my metabolism in no time at all! i can often actually feel contamination in my blood (particularly in my knuckles) if i consume them!

I understand now that it may be necessary for me to wipe out whats in my gut in order to rebuild from scratch. I think ill start with a water fast including natural anti-bacterials, and see how that goes. Then look closer at antibiotics if that does not work.

As for the amalgams, i reckon ill probably have them out, when finances allow, and when i have the capacity to take on the detoxing afterwards which sounds intense. Fortunately there is a great holistic dentist near me. unfortunately i have 10 amalgam fillings!

Ill keep trying these things out, although i'm sure we all know the challenging feeling that the more the AS monster grows, the weaker we are in our capacity to subvert and outwit it!

all the best, Patch

Please tell me to where this separate board for those patients not interested in diet is located please.

As for my desultory, rude, churlish, and ignorant remarks well I have always believed in freedom of speech.

I have just realised that you Face also live in a reasonably civilized country and like me benefit from a free health care system. How lucky are we then!

I believe in freedom of speech, also. On this board, however, a couple of comments are tolerated but there is a limit that You have exceeded; please post Your opinions on the MAIN BOARD unless You actually HAVE DIRECT EXPERIENCE, special knowledge that is USEFUL, or supportive comments. We get enough discouragement from actual physicians, family members, and "friends" that negative comments by KA members are just not necessary and especially not welcome--and ESPECIALLY NOT WITHIN THE NSD FORUM. I am sure You understand.

I wish You HEALTH,

Understood D.S. You say "discouragement from actual physicians" now I wonder why that should be. Perhaps they know something we don't. Anyway I will post no more about diet

Thank You, Frederick:

I am happy to have You as a member and appreciate Your personal experiences. Yes, doctors have an awesome amount of information and when they catch up with actual medical science perhaps we will be able to close this board!

I ordered a copy of "the Divided Mind" and am well into reading it. It's very convincing.

I am newly diagnosed 2 months ago, just started a no starch low starch diet. I did yoga yesterday and today I feel amazing! I am so thankful for all of this information. I am not wanting to take biologics at this time, even though the doctors are pushing them! If any of you have any other information on vitamins such as Cod and fish oil that would be great! I am taking L-Glutamine and Alpha Lipoic Acid and several other vitamins.
