Hi people, I'm new here and I have a few questions about the LSD/NSD diet. Before that, let me give you a quick background information about me:

I'm 30 years old and I was diagnosed by a rheumatologist with AS around 2011. We started with a few medicines that I don't remember the names now, but with no success. Around 2012 we proceeded to Humira and I used it continuously until late 2017. During all that time, I felt great, with 95% of pain gone and great flexibility (even with periods of zero physical exercises), but for personal reasons (that I can discuss another time) I'm stopping Humira. 2 months of no injections and the pain is back. I started to research alternative treatments and that's how I ended up here.

So my questions are:
- I'm HLA B27 negative. Should the diet work for me as well? Or just for HLA B27 positive people?
- English is not my native language so I'm having a hard time understanding the word "starch". Is Low-Starch diet the same as Low-Carb diet? If I follow a Low-Carb diet, should I notice the same benefits of a Low-Starch diet?
- Is there any probiotic strains that are recommended for people with AS?
- Is chocolate a starchy food? grin

Thank you very much for you help!

Yes diet should work.

Starch is a complex carbohydrate. To be contrasted with sugars like glucose, sucrose, lactose, etc.

Chocolate is not very starchy.

CHOCOLATE: If a person has their symptoms driven by Leaky Gut, or has SIBO, or some pathogen then chocolate would be a problem because of the sugar. I ate lots today and feel horrible. I had one last Magnum ice cream bar too and am feeling even worse than horrible.

COFFEE: is known to damage the microvilli in the gut and so it needs to go too for the best possible gut healing. Bring it back in after a month but just drink it two days a week and never on an empty stomach.

However today is the first day of the Chinese calendar (year of the dog) and I have made a resolution.

Hi, Yes diet should make a difference. If you do Have an Autoimmune condition you can try No starch diet, Low starch diet or the Paddison program see in the diet forum.

@Robin_H yes chocolate for me causes extreme pain I also think it is the sugar.

Cheers
