Hey everyone, so since being on remicade beginning in Aug 2016 (recieving 600mg every 4wks) i have had two instances where i was hospitalized because my ammonia levels were elevated and the doctors couldnt find out why.. the most recent (this past weekend) in the hospital they told me the levels were double what they were the previous time this had happened, just curious if anyone has experienced and sort of elevation in liver enzymes and ammonia levels while on methotrexate and remicade. And if so, what may be the root of the issue. My gastro is sending me in for a specialized liver test but my brain will be spinning until that day comes sooo, yeahh. Also i am bruising VERY easily, by very i mean when the hospital rheumatologist did her evaluation amd used her hand to move my leg and evaluate mobility it left a hand print shaped bruise on my kalf that is still there and she definitely didnt hold my leg hard enough to leave it bruised.. Oy just curious Thanks!

Hi Jennyfaaa - I've no experience of that, but I know that lack of vitamin C can show itself in easy bruising. Good luck

Spondyloarthropathy with symptoms of AS, Sjögrens and fibro. Previously took Celebrex, Methotrexate, Trepiline, Prednisone which seemed to trigger a flare and my illness became much worse. Symptoms now kept mostly under control with NSD, as well as cutting sugar, dairy and yeast and food intolerances. Mostly pain free now and all symptoms massively improved.

Liver is what provides some of the clotting factors, as well as influencing ammonia levels and liver enzymes. Hopefully, they are watching your labs and seeing how things go. If you have liver disease, it can affect coagulation, which can mean bruising. Have you had any coag tests PT, PTT, etc? If so, were any of them abnormal?

I've taken MTX for several years and have had no issues, other than one time with elevated ALT/AST. They went down the next month and never budged again. No idea why. It was definitely not a mislabel because I watched it be drawn and labeled. I'm a medical laboratory scientist and always watch for stuff like that.
