If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

How frequent that we have to do MRI to check the state of spine fusion as a precaution ?
I do play badminton, is it advisable to play badminton with AS?.
AS , HLA-B27 Positive , diagnosed at age of 27 --- present age 30.

If only I could, play badminton that is.
I would be interested in the period between MRI as well, I had my last 13 years ago.

I don't know there is any established standard for how often you should get an MRI and I greatly suspect that even if MRI's are periodically performed that each and every doctor would evaluate the changes perceived differently as would each of us
As for the endeavors we pursue, I am fully fused but still golf, paddle board occasionall wiping out am intermittently to be found zip lining with my daughters None of these are advisable activities and often I pay the price for a day or two but the mental and emotional benefits of these pleasures outweighs the risk for me.

Enjoy your life. It's one of those things. If it's too much, stop, but I am sure being active and everything that comes with it probably outweighs the cons. I wouldn't think Badminton would break you.

Hi nice to meet you.
After 50 years of hearing all kinds of things said about my X-rays... They can be a very useful tool, but sometimes AS pain will hide from technology.
I keep the New Covenant, when I fail....I am pulled back into place by HIM.

Thanz everyone for yours generous reply. I thought the jerk induced in my body during Badminton may lead to some problem in joints. at present my AS is inactive as i am on herbal medicine which is helping me a lot.
Have any one of you tried herbal medicine ?

Only doc that orders MRIs for me is pain mgmt. In 6 yrs, she's done each section of spine once...not all at same time. Only if I had symptoms of nerve impingement (nerve pain in R arm, sciatica, evidence of compression fx on DXA scan) or compression fracture.
All of those had to be approved by insurance, so she doesn't request if there is no basis to do so. 'Just to see what's going on over time' isn't something that gets approved.
As for activity, do what you can and rest afterwards. You'll learn what you can and can't do over time.
DX: Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Psoriasis Meds: MTX since Oct 2009, 15mg/week. Cimzia-restarted after 2 yrs away. Epidural Steroid Injections x8; Lumbar Radiofreq Ablation x2 SIJ Steroid Injection x3; Bilateral Radiofreq Ablation SIJ x9

I've never had an MRI scan done. Had a few xrays in the past. Although we are talking NHS treatment here.

I've had two MRI scans in the past 20 or so years. I'm also talking NHS here.
