If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Does anyone else get silly amount of pain in their lower side ribs when moving and or breathing if you have been putting weight on it for a while (lying down, leaning on a seat)?

Yes I do but such pain is rather typical A.S. That is why it is so important to keep good chest and lung function. Do your regular chest and lung exercises. If you not too sure how to do such exercises then get a physiotherapist to show you.

So do I. can not cough and sneeze naturally. Good advise for any A.S. sufferer is to do all you can to avoid coughs and colds. Make sure you take your annual flu jab and keep away from people who already have colds etc. See the doc. as soon as you think anything is developing into flue or bronchitis.

How is the cough and rib pain? It can be grueling. Nearly bringing me to tears, when it is at its worst! Somehow if I am up against something, wall, chair...it helps.

Yes, the low rib pain was horrendous before I started the NSD. Coughing or sneezing would put me into tears. I found that fully opening my mouth on sneezes helped, but it sure was loud! Trying to stifle a cough or sneeze only made it worse.
AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Getting good results with no-starch diet since 2011.

Yes I did, prior to my biologic days. The pain was that intense at times I had to freeze in the standing position. Couldn't move or breath for a few seconds, due to the pain felt at the rear ribcage area. I've also had it bad in the breast bone area, another one to avoid if possible. I found a hot water bottle helped to ease the rib pain. I used to take one into work, when I worked nights. Fortunately I was on by myself. If I took a break, I'd rest the bottle on the rear of my ribcage, whilst sat down. Avoiding sneezing helps too lol.

I get the same pain in the side of my rib cage. When I was in remission 2.5 years ago it was the only symptom of AS that I had. I even had long restorative sleeps; so much missed now.
I do yoga many times a day. I even do it when I wake up after a few hours of sleep to alleviate pain, stiffness and increase relaxation. A twisted position really alleviates my lower side-back rib pain.
Stretching and many yoga positions seem to pump stagnant, accumulated toxic irritants out of many types of tissues in our bodies and bring in highly needed nutrients including oxygen.
The less I move the more I hurt!!
No rest for the wicked. Sometimes I like to imagine that I was a bad person in a past life and that the pain and burning in my body is my Hell punishment. Or is it just a prelude??
HLA-B27 neg, vague AS symptoms in 20s and early 30s 1993:fibromyalgia (age 25) 2013.07:Reverse blockage in a SCUBA accident 2013.08:Scratched by a sick cat 2013.09:Strange sore throat then meningitis 2014:Chronic inflammation at the base of the skull 2014 to early 2015:excess NSAID use developed complete axial inflammation, included psoriasis NSD helped well and but was not perfect 2018.07: weak +'ve tests for borrelia, babesia, bartonella and mycoplasma pneumonia using Armin Lab, ANA=equivocal
