Hello. I wanted some advice to see what has worked best for legs that feel heavy. I am assuming it is related to my AS. This is all new to me...but my legs feel heavy and ache. Anyone find things that help with this? Of course, I have tried NSA-IDs and Epson salts, etc.

holly- hi.
My leg pain and heaviness seems to come from the SIj joints and bulging disks in the back, as wells as the stenosis putting pressure on the nerves and spinal cord.
It is really cumbersome to climb stairs when we feel this way. Anytime I can loosen up my lower back, my legs feel better..... which means exercise while in pain..

keep us posted as to what helps you.

Thank you, so helpful. It is weird my back never hurts...I have more peripheral pain, but the tightness I feel in the lower back is probably inflammation...I will try some lower back exercises and see if it helps!

holly- I woke up at 0600, with lots of leg pain and tingling. My lower back was mildly painful; so I see what you mean, but the pressure put on nerves that goes tot he legs seems to be y problem.....
keep us posted.

My job has me on my feet for hours without a chance to sit. I have started wearing support hosiery (knee high) and it helps the leg pain.

Hey Holly, I have this and it is so annoying. I have found a solution, I spray my legs and joints with magnesium Transdermal spray and also take a tablet of chelated magnesium before bed. When I do this the aches and cramps go away.

I skipped the magnesium tablet the other night and woke up with the worst Charlie horses cramp in my calf muscle, it was so painful. So the magnesium helps 100% for me.
