If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I'm 26, and my current diagnosis is AS and fibromyalgia. I'm on humira 40mg pen, Celebrex 200mg 2x day, flexiril 5 mg, Advair 500, prilosec 40mg and camrese for birth control.
I've been overweight pretty much my whole life. I've had symptoms of AS for about 7-8 years but just got diagnosed earlier this year based on blood work and MRIs. Before I had my terrible flare (before I was diagnosed) and I couldn't walk due to terrible knee swelling and crippling back pain, I had lost a lot of weight and was getting in good shape. Then once I got sick I started gaining weight back, and am close to the heaviest I've been. I've cut calories, and when my flares subside I exercise to the best of my ability (I can't really do effective cardio because of my asthma and knee pain). It seems like no matter what I do I can't lose any weight. It's ridiculous, I'm working out harder sometimes than what I was when I lost a lot of weight before, and I know my diet is better.
I'm having a lot of trouble with depression and anxiety too (I've had it in the past, including postpartum depression), and my weight is becoming a fixation for me. I don't know what to do and haven't gotten any real good advice from doctors.
Does anyone have any tips or similar situations? Has anyone had trouble with weight gain on any of these meds?

Hello, Serita:
Best thing about being overweight is that NSD will help that condition and especially eliminate AS symptoms, along with the asthma (according to my own experiences).
Good Luck, whatever You decide to do, John

The NSD will definitely cause you to lose weight. I lost 25-30 pounds just by following NSD and cutting out dairy as well. The celebrex my be adding to your weight problem as well.

Hi Serita,
I lost 15lbs in the first month after I eliminated wheat from my diet. Just wheat. Modify how you eat as well; five or six small meals even spaced will keep your blood sugar even. You're already on board with exercise, so try looking at your diet and what it contains.
I hope that helps.
Warm Hugs,
Kat

Agree with prior comments...
I am in the same pants size as I was in college... I am now 46, been on the No Starch Diet for 12+ years and cannot put on any weight.
But you do not need No Starch Diet to lose weight... eat healthy... cut out junk food, sodas, processed foods... you can eat starches, but eat whole grains that digest easier.
It can be done, but takes a lot of discipline... the discipline will be the hard part.
Best to you,
Tim

Tim I am in the same pants size too. One for each leg.....
I have compensated fighting the AS pain by eating all my life.
Keep posting and reading and trying, it is well worth it

Thank you..June I do not take any medications daily now for nearly the 12 years on No Starch... maybe once a once will take a Ibuprofen now if eat something wrong or have flare from starch or over do it. Prior to that was on azulfadine and naproxen for 7 years, came off because of elevated liver enzymes. Tim
