I'm 66 and have AS for about 45 years, been treating with Motrin for about 20 years 800mg 2x/day. Recent blood tests show Creantinine levels increased to 1.26 from 1.1 (normal range 1.34-) Dr. advises stopping Motrin for 3wks and another blood test. Have heard about Enral (sic) & Humira but didn't see the need since I've been fine with the Mortrin but now I may have Kidney issues with the years on Motrin. Any thoughts or ideas? I'm afraid without the Mortrin the pain will come back and lack of mobility. Thanks.

I am 65 i have had as since my mid twenties. The treatment for everything arthritis like in those days was nsaids. I was on naprosyn sr2000 for close to thirty years. Then I got colon cancer and had surgery and a year of chemo. That was sixteen years ago. It is an unknown whether my current problems are due to years of nsaids or some nasty chemo but I have nephrotic syndrome of the kidneys. My worst flere last january saw me losing 7 grams of protein a day thru my urine. I am now on 75 mg of cyclosporine twice a day. It is keeping my protein loss in check and slowly decreasing. It probably is helping the as and psa as well as severe peripheral neuropathy. What it does not help is being covered by two targin a day (40ng oxycodone and 20mg naloxone) . Ron ps I am in Australia .we use a different scale for measuring things my creatinine is 87 umol/l (normal 60-140)

But 1.26 is normal creatinine in your lab.

Had you exercised vigorously in the 24 hours prior to the draw? Eaten a lot of meat? Had you had less to drink than usual (water-wise)? All of these things can increase creatinine.
