spoke to you a while back about LDN.......i have some more questions for you if that's alright sis?
i am gonna see my doc for a prscription....

you reckon i should start on the liquid lowest dose available for starters?

should i take it at night?
(i have read that it can disturb the sleep quite badly and some folk recommend that the dosage should be taken AM to avoid the bad dreams etc,on the other hand some folk have said that taking the dose at night has a calming/mood improvement effect.i like the sound of that smile.)

does it ease YOUR pain any Sue?

i am hopping that it will ease my pain some....bring down my CRP levels....sort my moods out......fix my IBS .....clear up my seborrheic dermatitis....help with my fatique....:)

hope you are well Sue
John

John - Am not Sue, but can help answer some of yr questions.

Best taken at night, between 10p.m. and 3a.m.
Some people do have sleep problems, i.e. getting 'to' sleep - I had 'no' such problems
Some people get vivid dreams - I'm still waiting
Titatrate upwards from 1.25 to 4.5 or 4.75. Dr Bihari had his patients on a titrated 4.5mg maximum. Very few patients go above 4.5.
You can take as liquid or in pill form - up to you. Also available in a cream form. IF liquid then will have the bore of drawing up the correct amount.
No. LDN is not a pain killer - you can take pain meds with LDN but NOT opioids. Taking opioids 'with' LDN is contra one to the other, and can be Very dangerous - the two should never be mixed
LDN helps with inflammation
LDN helps with IBD/IBS/Crohn's - excellent at dealing with
LDN helps beat back iritis
LDN helps with many autoimmune conditions and also with cancer
LDN helps with Hashimoto's disease
LDN helps with seborrheic dermatitis

Can recommend an excellent group : lowdosenaltrexone@yahoogroups.com Your questions are often addressed. SKIPS Pharmacy are also excellent. SKIPS will answer your questions - spoken of highly on the LDN yahoo group : http://www.skipspharmacy.com/wplog/category/low-dose-naltrexone/

Hope this helps you some -

Sleep problems :

Melatonin mix called Fibro Sleep from Pro Health....
it has 3 mg of melatonin plus other stuff like malic
acid.......really helps sleep issues.

Another poster -

I think melatonin (at least 5 mg before bed).

------------##

Above posted on the LDN yahoo group in answer to a sleep problem question. The first poster said that they had taken for years as they have sleep problems anyway.

For me the sleep disturbance was temporary: first night slept rather lightly and fitfully compared to my normal out-like-a-light, but it got better quickly.

There is definitely a lot of support for LDN use on various user originated websites. I'd suggest some more googling and seeing which website(s) you find most useful that have some information relative to where you live.

Be aware that the vast majority of doctors still aren't comfortable prescribing LDN, so that is another reason for finding a website that has some knowledge of your geographic region and can point you to more local resources. In the UK its relatively easy to get LDN even if your primary or specialist doctor won't prescribe it - you can sometimes have an online or telephone consultation and then obtain it by mail order through a compounding pharmacy.

Do try your own doctor first though - its by far the easiest way if they are OK with it, but you may also need to find a source of supply before you ask - mainly because you do want the liquid (so you can titrate the dose easier) and you do want low doses (way lower than commonly prescribed for narcotic antagonist use) - so that usually means a compounding pharmacy. Also be aware of interactions and particularly what drugs you can't take with it.

Good luck, and I will be really interested in hearing how you get on. I've considered it myself, and its still in the possible list.

Saltire,
Dixons pharmacy in Glasgow is the main source of supply of LDN in Scotland. Are you anywhere near them?

IF difficulty in getting a prescription for LDN (UK applies) then Dr Dr Robert (Bob) Lawrence MB BS MRCP on the LDN website can prescribe and also post to you - anywhere. (Will need to have a consultation with him first, before he will script. That takes about an hour is searching questions. Very thorough). Dr L titrates in the correct dosage. Is always willing to answer any questions and is available by email. I have been with Dr Lawrence for years now - terrific chap. (BTW. He has AS and MS and takes LDN himself).

And Dixons in Glasgow are excellent - will need a script though.
