Hi guys,

I bought something curious from a Philippino grocer .. "Pilinuts Brittle". I tested it for starch and it didn't react. Have tried it three times now and still no pain or any other noticeable issues smile YAY

These nuts are kinda similar in taste to peanuts ..except perhaps being slightly bitter? But this product is covered in sugar so I will have to look for something else, too much sugar is unhealthy for me.

So then, if you can find a Philippino grocer or are from the Philippines give it a try laugh

/Z

"Proximate analyses of kernel from 17 pili trees showed that the trees also differed in the moisture, fat, protein and starch content of the kernel."

Can we amend that to "some" pili nuts are safe wink

Good question.. would like some actual numbers on the starch content variability but did a search and was unable to find anything. Even Dukes phytochem database had nothing :-/. I guess we will have to test each batch with iodine then !

Edit: found something that is almost useful. Lists carbohydrates as 4g but does not give any data on starch / sugar
