i just tested all my spices, and it looks like pretty much all of them are starchy!
does anyone know of any spices that are not starchy?

Spices as in garlic or cinnamon, or including dried green herbs? The dried green herbs have better chances of passing the iodine test than the former.

Generally all spices are starchy. As SJLC mentioned, green herbs are safer.

Yup... Most spices are starchy and I don't respond well to them. That includes cracked pepper. I especially react badly to cinnamon. Fresh garlic I'm good with, but I avoid garlic powder.

Herbs are fair game. Rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano, basil, etc. tend to be safe. Fresh herbs are amazing for cooking.
