If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I see a lot of my issues listed with the problems caused by magnesium deficiency in this article. I'm wondering how much of my problem is simply caused by that. Is AS actually calcification? Has anyone here had success with supplementing with magnesium or simply changing their diet to lower calcium intake and increase magnesium intake? http://magnesiumforlife.com/medical-appl...um-thiosulfate/

i eat a pretty high-magnesium diet, but it was only after i supplemented with it (~200 -400 mg a day) did the foot and calf cramps cease and the bowels get a little less constipated. though for the constipation, i also have to take probiotics and do a bunch of other things. but the magnesium definitely helped the muscles! and i had to do it by supplementation, diet alone wasn't cutting it.
but even after adding in the magnesium, i still have the inflammatory arthritis. so while it has helped some symptoms, magnesium deficiency was not the cause of my arthritis.

Thanks, Sue, I am working on changing my diet, but I think I'm going to start using magnesium chloride again. I am working on my pH, too, but I think it's changing too quickly and today I have a sick headache. That's actually what got me looking into magnesium again. Have you ever seen any of Alexander Haig's books? Here's a link to a shorter one. He shows the connection between uric acid and arthritis, rheumatoid included. I did use dairy for a couple of years as he suggests, but still had a lot of issues, so now I use his information but not his diet. http://www.archive.org/stream/uricacidanepito02haiggoog#page/n10/mode/2upI've gotten a lot of the stores of uric acid out of my body, but this headache I have today maybe from eating dairy again for a couple of weeks makes me think I have a ways to go. I am having some joint pains today, too.

I love your post! Great points to bring up! For me, YES, YES. Magnesium rich foods and a highly alkaline diet seem to me making all the difference (along with starch free). It took a few months of consciously eating alkaline for my body and internal bacteria colonies & ecosystems to fully adjust, but now I feel like I live in a happy healing body compared to a diseased and acidic sickly body I was creating before! I used to take magnesium and all sorts of other supplements, but I personally feel as though I peed most of it down the drain. But now by eating a diet rich in foods like Brazil Nuts, Avocado, Almonds, Sesame Seeds, Spinach, Halibut, Pure Raw Chocolate, Medjool Dates, and other magnesium rich foods, I feel great. I also eat lots of Mangos, Nutrional Yeast, Seaweeds, Kale, Zucchini, Blueberries, Raspberries, Cherries, Pineapple, Coconut, Sprouts, Walnuts, Carrots, Apple, Ginger, Parsley/Basil/Fresh Herbs, Salmon, Lemons, Limes, Garlic, Cerely, Broccoli, Mushrooms, Lettuce, Cucumber ... and well that is pretty much my current diet. I also make sure to stick to the more alkaline side of the spectrum with a few acidic foods in the mix. I believe a lot of disease starts in an acidic gut, but the good guys (good bacteria) thrive in an alkaline gut. Thats just my 2 cents! I am just so excited though that you brought up such great points that I truly attribute to my healing and feeling better & better each day! I now start the day with a green smoothie instead of an iced mocha, and right there is a huge change of pure acid to pure alkaline! xoxo, Andrea

Thanks, Betty (do you mind if I call you Betty?) Your message is just so helpful. I'm in a tizzy because I don't know how to get out of this headache state and I don't know how I'm going to get enough calories. But it's good to hear that you can/are doing it, so I can too.

Love being called "Betty" If it were me, I would totally blame the headache on the dairy. Dairy did horrible things to my body. I always seemed to feel its effects later in my joints and I also blame it for making me feel like I had a burning ulcer in my gut. Growing up it just looking at ice cream gave me a huge stomachache, so I went years and years without eating dairy. But then a couple years ago I was a diehard "SCD" Dieter and I religiously made the 24 hour homemade fermented yogurt which is supposed to help those with lactose intolerances and it was promoted as the ultimate probiotic for healing Crohn's & Colitis. Anyhow, even that yogurt (which did not give me a stomachache like traditonal dairy) was causing so many joint and backaches, along with ulcers. And it took me months to see the link. I think if you can stay away from the dairy, as you already suspect, you will probably feel better faster! Here is another great article about the calcium myths: http://www.sunherb.com/Calcium%20Myths%20and%20Mischief.pdfxoxo, -Betty

The dairy isn't good for me, I know, but I just realized that the broccoli and spinach I've been eating for a couple of days now knocked out my thyroid (goitrogens)! My temperature is down to 96.8, I am freezing one minute and then too hot. My head is killing me and I feel like I'm going to vomit. I wonder how long it takes for this to clear up. I do have to revamp my diet, but sheesh, it's so tricky!

Oh my gosh! I am so sorry to hear that!!! I hope you start feeling better soon!!!
I try to eat lots of seaweed to help with my iodine levels, but I have no idea what kinda advice to give you! So sorry! Hope this passes. Maybe a good time to consult a doctor?
xoxo, Andrea

Thanks, Betty, I feel better today. When I figured out how I had sabotaged myself I first thought to take extra kelp, but there's a way you can test to see what might help, and kelp wasn't showing that it would help. Then I remembered that a friend of mine got good results for her thyroid with Vitalzym, so I took 5 or 6 of them throughout the night and it helped pretty quickly, which is very interesting. I don't know why the goitrogen chemicals bother some people and not others, that doesn't make sense. And I wonder if they cause build up of fibrin which would be why the Vitalzym works so well at antidoting them. I don't know; it's something to think about and learn from. Thanks again for the well wishes.
