Agree. It is becoming ever more clear to me that lots of the advise on exercises out there at best is aimed at those who are in the early stages of the conditions or otherwise have rather mild symptoms.

I couldn't agree with you more, kilroy...we couldn't move like that without hurting ourselves, they do know we have pain, stiffness, limited range of motion and joints that are permanently immobilized, right? eyes

Michelle70605, I doubt they quite get it. frown Maybe at the early stages of AS one can still do such exercises. Or if it does not get aggressive. But when the first joint is fused such exercises will without doubt cause damage that might be permanent. I am happy for those who still not are, or will ever be, so bad that they cannot do this.

kilroy...yes, unfortunately so, I really miss exercising, biking, horseback riding, etc, I had a very active lifestyle, pre-A.S....but MOST of all, I miss training & showing my dogs, that is where my heart is... heart Oh well, we all have a list of things that we miss, I guess I'm just being nostalgic today...grin2 Take care and welcome to KA!!! smile

I long ago stopped even looking at any of the posted exercises because I came to the same conclusion. Rather offensive really, in addition to the exessively flexible models in the photos/diagrams, nobody even bothers to mention how to alter them for a fused spine. Maybe they don't think there's a point to doing stretches after fusion.

Thanks for the link,
I love the motto
"Life is 10% what it happens to you,
And 90% how you respond to it."
Once I got over the inital shock/anger I decided to get active too. I've worked my way up and now do kickboxing 4 days a week and swim too.
