Hey,

Taken 5 humira shots now and have not noticed any reduction in symptoms. I am honestly not sure if I will react to it at all judging off what I've seen so far.. I'm just wondering if it is worth staying on it for a bit longer just in case it may kick in? Otherwise I'm considering trying something else.

Any thoughts?

Seb, I am on Enbrel. I was told that I would see no change until after about 12 weeks........Saw/felt changes at about 10 weeks. Also, had appalling neck pain for years, nothing helped.....I didnt realise it but enbrel has stopped that pain but it sort of crept up on me. It was only when I sat and thought, what is enbrel doing for me, tht I realised nmy neck didnt hurt.........an odd thing but true......Stick with it longer. Give it a chance to work for you.

Hi Seb.I was first on enbrel...didnt work,then humira....worked for about a year and it did take about 5 months for it to start working.After a yr humira stopped working for me,so i switched to Simponi.Simpon started to work for me within a day or so and i am continuing to have good results with it to this day,a year after i started it' i am still doing great.
All people are different,but Simponi has helped me be almost pain free.

Just a thought - it would be really worth while finding out what the protocol is for NZ for trying a second anti-tnf before you think about giving up on it, or you might find that you aren't eligible for anything else. Talk it over with your rheumatologist anyway - he should do the full range of measurements again for you, and as someone else said, you may not be realising yourself that it actually is doing something positive but he might. It would be horrible if you went off it and then realised how much it was doing but weren't allowed to go back on it because of the NZ criteria.

Not sure how often you are injecting, but didn't someone say that humira can take up to six months to work? If you are doing fortnightly, then thats only 2.5 months, so you could still get much more benefit if you stick it out the full six months before making a decision.
