Beloved,
After the hospital stay, i came down with gout in my left foot and toe. My great toe swelled up like a big painful red strawberry. It is hard to walk with a gout toe!!!

We had our morkie, about two weeks, and little Emily and her mom were with us. I was so concerned the baby was going to walk into my toe, but I had to take my shoe off for a while...
Lin came in with the pup, who went potty, she put that dog down and it was as if the dog was draww to my toe!! Lola Mae, put a death grip on my toe that would shame a pit bull.
It happened so fast that I had no time to move, only cry out in pain!!
I scared Baby Em, the dog was not to be detered, she had a hold of that great toe and was trying to shake it as if it were a rat she had pulled out of a hole.
As you know, I can not reach my feet very well, I am over weight, my wife is just roaring with laughter as is my daughter in law. I lifted my foot and the pup came with it for the first foot or so Here is that black and white face / jaw, with Lonnie's big red toe sicking out both sides, she is growling like she is trying out for a night security job at a bank.

I kept the dog, she goes with me to the office, and she holds the wrenches for me when I repair the mowers at church.

Laughter allows us to deal with heartache and pain. Thanksgiving strengthens our character so that we can forgive, others. Loving the unlovely, allows us to hope for a better tomorrow, not based on our own efforts but on a hope of a creator who cares.

Hollar if I can help.

Good grief, Lonnie, I about fell off the couch laughing!! Sorry, but I am with Lin and your D-I-L on this one. You tell a story far too well for me not to have images in my mind of little Lola Mae and your toe.

I hope it didn`t hurt too much, tho my dear, and that the damage wasn`t too horrid.

In the meantime, if Lola Mae can handle wrenches, she might make a good caddie on the golf course! They keep golf course grass relatively short, so you wouldn`t lose her in it overly frequently. grin

Love and hugs,

sorry about the toe and the attack on the toe! eek2

but appreciate the levity of the scene. you had us all right there. i'm sure it was hard for the others to not laugh. but oh i could feel the pain while i could envision the dog in the air. laugh3

i've had moments like that. oh so painful, but knowing they'd be a funny story later. clown

That is such a funny story, I'm so sorry about the pain, but I can't help but laugh. That pup is a real keeper, just keep her away from your painful parts. Gout can be so painful, I know. I pray it get better.

I am just getting my garden in. I have some tomatoes that I put in big pots and tubs before I went to Des Moines to see my brother. I have just been too tired and achy to get much done. Now it is getting into the hot weather, I have to get up early and try to get about an hour of gardening in before I get too tired and go inside. Sometimes I can get some more time in the evening.

My granddaughter is graduating from HS in a couple of weeks. I have been trying to get the house all spiffied up for all the company we are having. It seems that fatigue is my biggest AS problem. Its worse then the pain.

Our Pastor had a prayer for healing session at church last Sunday. He does this once a month. We lay on hands and pray for anyone who has problems. I do think it helps me some. I know that many churches don't go for that kind of thing, but our pastor and a couple of members do seem to have the gift for healing. It's been a real blessing for our church.

Lon,
That was too funny, at your expense though. Your dog holds the wrenches for you during repairs, that great. I never had a dog help out with the chores, except my dad's dog use to nip my heels, I guess he thought he was my babysitter or something.Maybe I looked like a little lamb to the dog:)
Hope the big,red toe is better now smile

Donna,
thanks for the update.
I can imagine the enthusiasm of a graduation.
But we won't get there in time to help clean, darnit...

We have not had that kind of heat yet. We enjoy it when it does get warm tho.
Yea, the pup is a keeper. But when I weed the strawberries or am working with the garden, she lays like a cat right where I want to work..

Did you have a good trip to see your brother?
