Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good protein powder that is safe to drink on the low starch diet. I am also on a Candida diet.. I'm starving and losing too much weight frown.

The basic protein from here never flared me: http://www.truenutrition.com/c-54-proteins.aspx. It's high quality stuff and doesn't test for starch.

One has got soy - GM crops. And the other has sweeteners!

I have been using protein powders 1982. ... Great source of beneficial Amino Acids; No whey, no soy, no egg, no dairy, no fish/shelfish, no peanuts/ treenuts ...

Above might have starches though - think it has.

Have been checking out various sites - Ho-Hum. Soy in most of em, and also artificial sweeteners.... That's no good. The site I had most hope in was Solgar, but no, formula changed, now soy, and that means GM. Sigh. Also noted one comment saying how most of them contain heavy metals...strewth. Well, he was sort of 'happy' to use one, but, it did have heavy metals though not too many 'unlike the others' that he had checked out!

Can't believe the mess of pottage out there.

Could you make your own?

This article has some interesting information about candida - "if the therapeutic plan is to ‘starve’ out C. albicans, the only organism that will perish will be your client/patient." The article suggests that Saccharomyces Boulardii, Probiotics and Oregano Oil may be an effective strategy.

I've found and bought from multiple sources for whey. One of the best quality I found is MuscleFeast. I buy the unflavored whey protein isolate. However, their flavors are sweetened with stevia, not crap. I can't vouch for the actual flavorings, hence the purchase of unflavored. I just flavor it myself.

I don't think the pea protein would test NSD safe (if that is to what you adhere). However, hemp protein has tested safe for me. It takes a bit of getting use to but is great. I use the Nutiva product.

That sounds a good one Jay - and yes, Stevia is safe to use. Interestingly, was banned for several years in the UK but...is just now being pushed, one brand has much marketing behind it!

Yes, hemp is good. Have a bottle of hemp oil. Has got Omega3: though I will be using for psoriasis - using as a rubbing oil.

Hi, Shari:

I got into terrible flare with "soya isolate," when I was just (trying) new LSD/NSD. I am very wary of anything powdered or turned into a flour; so many things are inimical to us especially pea flour, a common food in India. And just because something might test safe, does not mean it really is--go slow and be cautious.

HEALTH,
John
