Sounds alot like my situation only with weight-lifting.. I was 20-21 when it started and like you just figured it would eventually go away.. Now 25 im not able to do much of anything i enjoy.. Glad you found this site as it has helped me cope greatly with the disease.. Much luck!

Hey!
Nice to see another person from NZ. I also thought I had a running injury, but unlike you had just discovered running about a year earlier and it had become a passion. I'm still determined to run even though people think I'm crazy to run with my condition. My specialist says I can so who cares about the rest. Welcome fellow kiwi smile

Hi and welcome Ironman,
Like you I was also very active. I am still a surf life saver at Bribie Island QLD but in a limited capacity. I was a national athlete before felling the affects of this disease.
I know it is really difficult to deal with mentally when you can no longer do the things you used to.
Stay strong and take care.
And learn from my and many other people here mistakes and try not to over do it.Easier said then done though. I still fail at that one.

Welcome mate.

19 year old kiwi living down in Wellington. Good to see a few New Zealanders on here. I used to be a really competitive sports player but have unfortunately had to cut back on quite a few physical activities that I used to enjoy. In saying that, I went skiing with a group of friends a couple of months ago and was still beating most of them down the slopes haha so don't give up hope. I recommend looking into the no starch diet, many many people have achieved reduction of pain and even remission by altering their diet. It is certainly something that should not be avoided.

Best of luck,

Seb
