Had the best day today even though pain wise I am really paying for it.

I won tickets to Dreamworld (theme park)to interact with their tiger cubs.
Might I say they are so very cute (10 weeks old). I got to pat them and get photos with them. Was a once in a lifetime experience.

Anyway after the tiger cubs my sister and I decided to spend the rest of the day on the rides.
Huge warning signs on the rides say not to ride if you have a weak neck (check), weak back (check), heart condition (check), pregnant (thank god no check for this one) and a couple of others.
So do I take note of these signs? Nope, I have a laugh about it with my sister and launch right in. Even the adrenalin rush wasn't enough to stiffle the pain. I went from one ride to the next, laughing each time at the signs and moving slower and slower as the day went on.
I had to get my sister to help me get off so many it really was a very silly thing to do.

However despite the at times extreme pain I did manage to enjoy myself. I do think it may be the last time I will ever be able to do this.

So I am now wanting if not wishing to find out that I am not the only one of us that chooses to do silly things even when we know we really shouldn't.
Please share your silly things so I know I am not alone.

Good for you. We should all have some fun. I don't know if I should, but I do like roller coasters. Several years ago I went on the old roller coaster here in Utah, the vibration was so bad I decided I would never do that one again. I was wondering if I should still be scuba diving. When I was in Jamaica a few years ago I listed all the medical problems I have, and they told me I had to get a doctors note saying it was OK to dive. My doctor does say it is OK.

I absolutely love, love, love the roller coasters too. I remember when I did my last one and knew it would be my last one. So sad! Miss the fun of all the rides. Sometimes we just have to go for it if we think we aren't going to be too bad off. No fun is no life. Glad you had a fun day out.

Where to begin.. I have always been extreamly active until AS. You usually know when your going to regret something but, like you sometimes you just have to DO IT.. Who wants to live their life from the sidelines.. Granted you do have to have somewhat of a brain when doing theses things lol.. I spent all last weekend with my brother in-law riding mini bikes and getting my garden ready (16ftx32) Thats alot of compost!!! I could hardly move when i woke up on monday But i had a blast and wouldnt trade it for anything...

I agree with Pea 100% "No fun is no life" Glad you got to enjoy yourself!!

i always pay for gardening, and so only have the herb garden, and let hubby do the rest of the gardening, but even that little bit of gardening is too much for my body, but i do it anyway. carefully, but just not something i can give up 100%.

i love to travel. and when i've been doing well for awhile (no flares for awhile), i get brave and decide to go to a meeting (by plane). it still, after all these years, amazes me how my body can go from "pretty good" to "scary bad" if the trip is too long. and still i have this vision that somehow we'll figure out travel. i'm planning on flying about an hour flight from here in august, usually my worst (almost put me out of work on disability) month. and yet, i'm cautiously optimistic that with prednisone, i can make the trip.

silly? or just optimistic? its all in how you look at it.

there are things i gladly give up (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bathtub cleaning - i mean, who really wants to do those!) but other things are harder to give up.

Sweetie, first off ... well done!!! Sometimes, you just have to say, "To hell with it," and have some unadulterated fun. I know you're paying for it big time, but still you and your sister have memories that you will cherish for the rest of your lives.

One of my silly things - playing 'gonna getcha' with my dog. In the house. On a laminate floor. In stocking feet. Last January, in my old house, she and I badly needed some distraction. The front hall, living room and front room were all open to each other, so you could run around in circles. Well, I got her chasing me (I was holding her favorite toy) and when she 'caught' me, I would give her a huge hug and then I would chase her. Now, she was a hundred pounds, just so you know I wasn't dealing with some small pup. We were in a her chasing me cycle and my socks slipped on the floor and I landed flat on my tailbone. Almost winded myself, actually, but I was laughing too hard. My pup runs over to me, noses my ear and cheek, and then puts her paws on my chest as if saying, "I WON!!" That got me laughing even harder and I threw my arms around her, which made her back away a little, which helped me sit up.

Luckily, no damage was done, but it was a wake-up call. We still play 'gonna getcha' but it's usually outside now (no circle running where we are now) and I'm wearing good shoes (or at least birkenstocks) when we do it!

Love and hugs,

Thank you , thank you, thank you.
I am not Alone. lol

Steve &Pea: I loved the roller coasters. Don't know if it is the coasters getting older or just me but they felt so much jerkier (is that a word?) then they used to be.

No fun is no life. I love this. Think it may become my new quote.

Sue: I own and run a hobby nursery on my own with just my kids to help. Really wipes me out now and I am back to 2-3 days a week and even then I don't get too much done. But like you I do love it.
But I must say I love getting out of the yucky housework more.

Kat: you made me laugh so hard just picturing you and your doggy running arround like that. haha. I used to do this with my doggy but she is only tiny and these days I can be so unsteady that I am afraid I could realy hurt her bad if I stood or fell on her.
I am glad you didn't do yourself any major damage.

I think probably the silliest thi8ng of all was going on these rides knowing that today I had to take my plants to the markets. Absolutely shot now.

Thanks for sharing everyone.

Trish - *only* 3 out of 4 of the contraindications....?!?!?

Hi 5 !!!!! Very Nice.....

Maybe you should've stayed on them longer, for an even bigger adrenaline and endorphin high to counteract the afterpain?!?!?

Well if you have no fusions in back and neck I think it is fine if you do not mind the stiffness/pain afterwards.

Would not recommend it for anyone with fused vertebraes.

Hope you are already feeling better. Do you have pictures with the tiger cubs to post?

Take care,

Tim

I think the free-fall type ride would be best thrill without pain from jerking around. Those always were some of my favorites; too bad it is over so quickly.
