i see from another post that the DRAGON SLAYER man recommends borage seed oil for inflammation..i have a high CRP level and would like to bring it down if i can

i am currently taking fish oil for this reason ...is there an overlap with the two oils or are there enough differences and benefits with each induvidual oil to go ahead and take BOTH?

Fish oil and Borage seed or Evening primrose are different types of oils with varying properties, they can be taken simultaneously.
Biotics Research makes a lovely combo oil called Optimal EFA's it contains: Fish oil (anchovy and mackerel), flax seed oil, borage oil. ALA is 630 mg, EPA is 357 mg, DHA is 237 mg and GLA is 252 mg

Fish oils alone taken in high dose will decrease inflammation on their own, having the combo of oils is great.
you can also look at proteolytic enzymes taken between meals to decrease CRP levels.

I tried Serracor NK and it is an enzyme and it has been reported to lower crp. I am trying it for the first time this month. It is reported to remove excess fibrin in the body. I don't know about the borage seed oil, sounds interesting.
Take care.

Hey, saltire:

I have had much better results with GLA than with simple fish oil, but I cannot explain the differences. It might have to do with the way they are metabolized, but GLA seems to be more effective for many reasons. I can believe that it is more hydrophobic and a better intestinal-coater than fish oil. But whatever the reasons, I know GLAs are more effective at taking down inflammation and I believe it would show up in the CRP numbers, if somewhat less effective than dietary measures.

HEALTH,
John
