If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

I am starting my supplementation experiment today, 17/4/2012. I will be taking 100 micrograms (4000 international units) of Vitamin D3 per day and one A-z general multivitamin as well. I am on a normal starch , non vegetarian diet. Mostly neck pain, some back pain, and some knee pain. I do keep more precise scoring system, but won't bore you with that.
I will post my experiences over time. I have given blood for vitamin D testing.

What are your expectations for the higher dose of D3? Do you plan on taking any extra magnesium with it?

AS symptoms started 1991. Official dx in 2006 with HLA-B27+, fused SIJ, bone spurs in back, extreme rib/hip pain, and other family with SpA. Started Enbrel in 2006 with good results, but stopped in 2010 due to nerve damage (MS) from it. Now getting good results with no-starch diet.

What are your expectations for the higher dose of D3? Do you plan on taking any extra magnesium with it? I am not sure what to expect. However, I have read that Vit D deficiency may be associated with auto immune diseases.i.e. Those with auto immune diseases are more likely to be deficient in vitamin D. However, there is controversy as to if the deficiency causes disease, or is it that those with auto immune conditions stay at home more, and have less sunlight exposure, and therefore have lower vitamin D. Bottom line is , i want to see if it does any good to my symptoms. I do not take extra magnesium, except what is in the multivitamin that i take. Thank you

mine goes down when my bowels go haywire and i'm not digesting my food properly.
even in the middle of the summer, even when i'm out in the sun in the middle of the day in the middle of the summer.
i think mine goes down when my bowels can't absorb their nutrients properly.
with that said, over the last few years, its been up and down between 30 and 65 and i've never noticed a correlation between its level and how i'm feeling.
still, i think things should be within a normal range, so that's what i shoot for. as we never know all that something is doing for us.

My vitamin D test (before starting supplements) has come back as 51.6 nmol /L (21 ng/ml).
It says this is "sufficient", however, I have read that one should aim for higher levels than this .....

on nov 2010 my vit-D was 39ng/ml (98nmol/L) after supplementing around 5000IU per day over USA winter on may 2011 levels were 62ng/ml (154nmol/L) i made sure to take vit-A and K2 at the same time. there is evidence that they each protect against the toxicity of the other and synergistically suppress the development of Th17 cells which are increased in AS.
