pspondylitis,

I'm going to repeat what I said before: the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche showed us with his work that we humans tend to Will something and later we construct arguments and rationalizations in order to defend our will. I really think that you didn't want the diet to work from the start, and if that's the case there are many ways in which you could have sabotaged it.

Many here have discovered that one ingredient that we were still using was the cause that the healing didn't advance. For instance, milk + sugar is bad for me, and none of that is starch, and I had to learn it the bad way even though others have pointed out that milk was bad for them. I'm not even allergic to milk but it did feed my Klebs.

It might be this the case, or it simply might be that the diet doesn't work for you. But the diet does work for others like me. Me too had a very difficult time leaving in the past foods that made 90% of mi diet, my comfort foods.

As with religion, if you don't believe in the diet please respect others who do. We might be close minded as you call us but we are pretty happy to have encountered with this alternative and specially with those who stay and help others, those who take their time and money to keep this non-profit site up.

If it works for some, then is reality, then is bigger than science.

Maybe the time will come when research finds exactly why it has worked for some, and maybe then the sacrifices will not have to be so many and you will benefit from it, but others think that we don't have time to spare and whatever works, well, works.

In the mean time, adopting the NSD won't hurt you even if doesn't ease your pain: I eat healthier, have lost a few extra pounds and have more energy, and also sleep non-stop until morning. I include proteins and carbs and a lot of fiber in my diet, I cannot think I'm missing anything that my body needs.

I ask you only one thing: Please respect others who tried to inform you and others that have success with the diet. I'm really sorry it didn't work for you.

Truthfully,

chicharito

I concur Chelsea!

It is funny you should say that jroc because my partner said to me today why have I not posted a success story in the appropriate section. I explained because I do not feel I can. I totally understand that the implicated pathogen may not be the cause of the disease, just as starch restriction is not be the cure. I can reduce my symptoms to zero by eating meat, oil and salad greens. This is clearly not viable in the long term.

I quoted a few paleo/archevore sites but in reality I have drawn from many. I haven't read what Kurt Harris has said recently but what he has said seems quite logical...to a point.

When I gave up grains weird little health problems just went away. The rash on my foot for example. This has led me to believe that the optimum diet for human may not be based on grains. Of course in the language of Robb Wolf N=1. However, my hour and hours of research reading scientific papers I didn't fully understand seemed to support my conclusions.

I don't believe for 1 minute wheat is the sole cause of coeliac disease. As I stated earlier I believe in the dynamic between genes and environment. Yet I still hold that a more ancestral diet is more effective in illness prevention and treatment.

But even the evolutionary standpoint is not proven in my mind. I really enjoy the work of Chomsky and he dismisses evolutionary reductionism (I think). Others also identify differences between adaptation and evolution! I am obviously out of my depth here. My point is that the science is far from settled.

Rationality can only take us so far. At some juncture intuition comes into play. As a consequence of this I temporarily rest somewhere between Chris Kresser and the zero carbers (and as I stated earlier the myriad of ancestral/ paleo thinkers).

If the jury is out on molecular mimicry (again I am out of depth here) it certainly is not in terms of the diet and my body. What ever the reason it works beautifully if I am totally strict.

I have followed your debate with John. It is a shame it reached that point. I always enjoy your posts. But when ever I have been in trouble I have sent John personal emails and received lengthy, detailed responses that invariably improve my condition.

I will continue to experiment and follow the debates and developments across the paleo/KickAS blogosphere. The only consistency for me has been NSD. I look forward to modifying it over the years based on N=1 and the experiences of others.

Cheers

Keith

Good luck with your search for relief.... I sincerely hope you find it.

this is what can be seen over and over again when you read others stories. Kiwi...right on target..with the entire entry, but this says it all.
