Thank you for the inputs. I will stop Stevia and avocados for now and experiment again later when I'm back to 0-1 pain level, which was how I felt when NSD was working wonderfully for me.

Because of this loooong, painful flare I'm starting to wonder if it's possible for NSD to stop working for someone after a particularly damaging binge. I hope not.

Now I know that it's better for me to just starve than eat and suffer.

Inflammation seems to have inertia once it gets started; it is harder to get rid of it than prevent it. This is what I've observed from trends in my own disease activity, but I had a great physical therapist who said it made sense based on her knowledge of inflammatory mechanisms. I have developed a diet that prevents iritis flares from occurring when I stick to it, but it does not halt iritis if I go back to it after a mistake -- if I catch the mistake early enough I take an emergency dose of NSAID, but once I didn't realize soon enough and had to do the usual course of prednisone eye drops to break out of the inflammation cycle.

This realization that inflammation is "easy come" but not "easy go" does make me rather conservative about experimenting with new foods, sticking with the same old diet for many months at a time. And it motivates me to never ever intentionally binge, I just grump at people who insist on bringing pizza or donuts to work and try to only eat with close family and friends who are willing to be considerate about such things.

This is the stevia based sweetener I'm currently using:

Svetia
Calorie Free Sweetener

Ingredients: Isomalt, Saccharose, Stevia (Reb A), and High Intensity Sweeteners.

Developed and Manufactured by Metco
www.metco.com.mx

Are the ingredients safe? I actually don't like that it has so many and the last listed -- High Intensity Sweeteners -- can be any number of things I guess.

That's the only one I've found here in this part of the world, please recommend me other if this one is not very good.
