So called "Tennis Elbow" was my first AS symptom. It started in both elbows back when I was 19. It gets better then flares,it never goes completely away. I also get tendinitis in my shoulders and feet. I used to get terrible pain in my heels but now it's more on the tops and sides of my feet. The last time I went shopping, my hubby suggested I use one of the motorized carts. I didn't, but after I got home, me feet hurt so much that I wished I had used one of the carts.

Hi Girls,
Yes I think we have to do whatever we have to, to help prevent the pain from being 24/7, so if that means using a motorized cart sometimes, so be it.
I walk a few times a week. I went out and bought some $200.00 support shoes to make it more comfortable. I would like to walk more, as I am not working at the moment but I just get too sore in the feet, ankles and knee. I told the rheumy that I don't call it a walk I call it torture! I drag myself around the block! I find walking up any gentle slope incredibly hard and uncomfortable. Hardly relaxing. grrrrr

Thanks for the tip of holding things close, I have adjusted to doing that.
Kind regards,
Deb

i have times where walking aggravates something and can't walk as much. do you walk on softer surfaces like grass or dirt? or do you walk on harder surfaces like concrete or blacktop? i find i have to walk on the softer surfaces or my feet really yell at me much faster. sometimes walking bothers my hamstring tendon enthesis behind the knees and that limits my walking. and if the SI is flared, well, no walking at all then. when i can't walk (much), i find i often can still bike, especially a reclining recumbent stationary bike. but even my regular bike if its staying off my feet that i need to do.

Hi Sue,
I walk on bitumen road or footpath. I can't cycle I have a fracture at L5S1 so was told not too partake. I do try to do my stretching exercises 3 times a week. I feel good trying to keep active
Cheers

Tennis elbow one of my first symptoms, along with feeling crappy allover, but at least i was able to address the tendinitis- an orthopedic doc gave me an arm band and a list of exercises to build forearm strength. I still get the arm band out when i feel the twinge come on, it helps alot.
