If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

you can ask the doctor to order a blood test to check your B12 levels. then if they are low, a B12 shot might help.
there are a lot of reasons for the lack of energy; figuring it out requires a good doctor to investigate. most doctors won't spend the time. i'd see a mainstream western doctor first. let him/her run the obvious tests.
then if he/she doesn't find a smoking gun, maybe go to a naturpath. they tend to be very good when it comes to these sorts of things, in my experience.
my husband was feeling like you say. his GP did some routine testing, nothing obvious came back. the GP insinuated "all in his head." so my husband moved on. he went next to my naturpath. she did a lot more tests. his B12 was on the low side, he got a shot, but it didn't do much for him, cause that wasn't his main problem.
he also tested positive for candida (stool sample testing) and when he went on a diet for that (really cutting out the sugar more than anything), that helped him a lot.
not to say it is candida, as a lot of things cause this problem of tired and no energy.
low thyroid can do it. adrenal fatigue can do it. blood sugar / insulin resistance can do it. just being in a flare can do it. under the radar strep can do it. low iron can do it. low vitamin D may do it. fibromyalgia. chronic fatigue. etc etc.
as you can see, not so simple. but a lot of this can easily be tested through blood work. so a good place to start.

could be. but if you notice it gets worse with flares and better in between flares, could just be part of the flare process. i know when i go into a big flare, at the beginning i always think i'm coming down with the flu, very tired like when i get sick, then the flare starts.
hope you figure it out.
just don't let anyone try to convince you that its "in your head."
another thing my husband suggested when we went on our walk today, depression can make a person feel tired as well. don't know how you are feeling in that respect. i don't deal with it, thankfully, but others here do.

just being in a flare makes me want to sleep all the time, just like when i'm coming down with a cold or the flu; my body's way of trying to fight the inflammatory arthritis i guess. this week i finally caved and went on a 6 day pred taper and wow the difference in energy levels. not suggested pred, but am suggesting, anything that helps the inflammatory arthritis, might help the fatigue, if the fatigue is coming from the inflammatory arthritis like mine does when i flare.

You are right Sue. Knowing yourself is the most important thing. But every AS patient should take blood tests for T3, T4 and TSH as hypotyroidism is also an auto-imune desease. Specially if feeling tired and "low battery".
