So who thinks there will be a cure for this condition and what are your reasons for or against?

Hi, Rippon:

I think there will eventually be a "cure," but it is too far in the future to help anyone reading this today. It will of course be an(other) expensive and incorrect approach.

Once the clear and better understanding of AS is accepted, there should be much more effective treatments available to the patients. But, sadly, this is also well into the future.

HEALTH,
John

i think either "a cure" or at the least very good management with a very good "drug" that targets exactly what its supposed to target without terrible side effects. because science is always moving forward. also, i think its not too far in the near future that we will have customized medicine where our genes and proteomes can be analyzed and they'll know which treatments we'll respond to and which will give us bad side effects. that will be really exciting.

There is a big difference between treatable and a cure. I would think you would have to eradicate the disease, and the cause. I don't think there will ever be a cure.

Extremely doubtful. There is too much money to be made off those who present with illness.

Considering that most autoimmune diseases have genetic components, we'd need early identification and gene therapy. It's possible, but not in the near future.

Unlikely I say. I agree with Jaybird, there's just too much money exploited from illness. The medical institution is one of the largest profit making systems in the world. I guess that's a pretty negative and depressing way to look at it though and maybe it's just my perception.

On the other hand, I believe there is the knowledge and technology out there to cure a large portion of disease on this planet. You never know.
