I have been swimming five, yes five times since my first visit. I went three consecutive mornings this week and yesterday. At the moment I am always stiff to start but as I warm up I speed up. It is making a world of difference to my outlook for the day it really starts me off and gives me a positive outlook. I have realised that exercising first thing which is what I used to do when I was horse riding works really well for me.

I have done the 40 min walk up the hill twice this week too.

Erica,

Glad your depression is beginning to lift do you swim first thing it really helps me feel more positive. Is the porcupine really making those noises??? At first I thought it was the person taking the video doing it to make it funny. We dont have porcupines here so I have no experience of them.

I have no personal experience of Tai Chi but it is something I have always thought about trying, that and yoga. I was looking into hot yoga as that is supposed to be better for us until a friend pointed out that it was responsible for the most passed on germs colds flu etc because you are working in the perfect hot environment for them.

had a bit of a viral bug this week, not too sick, but did wipe me out a bit.

better by friday, so went to the maize maze with the college kids, walked about 5 miles in about 2 hours, before we could find our way out! found all the map puzzle pieces though smile

Did all that walking walk off the kettle corn and hot cider? hope so! smile

I went for a swim first thing and then I went to a yoga class clap

I discovered at the weekend that a neighbour had started going and it is at the same place I go swimming durr! I was really excited but worried how hard it would be and that I wouldn't be able to suppress grunts and groans. I was pleasantly surprised it was fun, highlighted my bad side for sure but I felt like it really helped stretch and loosen me up and will definitely be going next week.

Their brochure says the do Tai Chi but there are no classes at the moment.

There's a church down the street that has free tai chi classes, so I'm going to go try it next week.

Please don't tell your wife I'm cheering your running... eek2 eek

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I am feeling better every day.

Swimming and exericse really do help, and I've been using a couple of cool mindfulness apps that have been awesome.

My decks are almost painted. I'm doing the front porch garden beds next. It's supposed to be in the upper 70's (F) for the rest of the month, so I think I'll be able to get that done.

Lets see... swimming e/o day for 30 minutes, occasional walks with friends, and mowing the lawn once a week. Trying to vacuum the house once a week as well. It all counts, right?

Fergus, I don't know if these dancing bats are roosting bats, but here ya go for Halloween month!

Those roosting bats do really look like they are dancing and singing, don't they! smile

Tuesday walked about an hour around campus with a good friend, good colleague.

enough walking that my left heel is acting up again

~2 hours at the orchards and farmers market on sunday

Hello Team! roll

Good job with all the walking this week everyone!
1cup

So excited today! My friend and I did a radio interview for our 1 year anniversary of our Blanket Project , and I'm here to say that radio is SO MUCH BETTER THAN TELEVISION!

We got to talk without having our words chopped up into little sound bites.

So where's Steve? He's the only one of us who posts just about every day and we're up to 9 days....
frown

About my exercise ~~~ I've been wearing a pedometer, and just doing regular housework and laundry the past 2 days I've racked up 16,327 steps. I think I'll be buried with this thing! It's such immediate payoff to know that my regular movement is actually exercize!
cheerleader

I'm back up to swimming 30 minutes e/o day. Still kinda slow, but the depression is really making a fast exit so I feel much more energetic this past week than the month before.
smile

Okeedokee, here's a video on the " Exercise is Medicine" movement. I just love this movement!

Hi,

Been swimming 4 times and Erica I am still much slower than I used to be especially when I start off.
Yoga again I did wonder whether I had got off easily last week. This weeks routines highlighted everything I couldn't do I was aching the next day but not an overdoing it ache just an all over muscles been stretched feeling.
Also done some walking.

Like the idea of a pedometer I think you can get a mobile app for it, glad the depression is easing.
