So I've been doing the LSD since early September of this year and have thus far had some pretty good results. A lot of the minor stiffness during the day is gone and my rib pain at night, which is my worst ailment, has gone from about a 5-6 to a 2-4 (on a 1 to 10) scale. I bet if I went complete NSD I would see even more benefit, but I'm happy with the results I've had thus far and can live with a 2-4. I've cut about 90-95% of starch from my diet occasionally eating brown rice or perhaps some quinoa but that's really about it.
On another note though I'm not sure this has ever been discussed here before but in my quest to acquire as many lifelong obstacles as possible, haha, I'm having some issues with my HSV since starting the diet. For those of you wondering, I am referring to Herpes Simplex (type 2). I've had this since around 2003 and never really had any issues with it at all. Since starting the diet though, I'm having back to back outbreaks that are lasting 2-3 weeks at a time. I'll get better for a week, then right back into it. In the past, I always took acyclovir for outbreaks and it was never an issue, but now I think the acyclovir is actually hindering my progress with the diet as it's an antiviral and doesn't feel the best on my tummy. Then I feel it's contributing to this viscious cycle of gut issues, immune response, outbreak, and so forth. I've tried stopping the meds, but then it's right back to constant outbreaks with no relief whatsoever. The only other thought I have is to go see my doc and try to get on maybe a different drug like valtrex or famcyclovir. I realize this might be a personal topic for some, so if you have experience with this and don't want to post here in public, please feel free to PM me as well. Your help is greatly appreciated!
