I had labs in August and then I had labs done again this week.In 3 months on NSD my sed rate lowered from 54 to 37 and 1-28 is normal, so I really hope in the next 3 months my labs will be normal. I am hoping to be a success story, I am remaining cautiously optimistic.

I was diagnosed with RA in 2009, but I have very bad arthritis in my si joints, knees and one wrist and one elbow- it hurts just to touch my si joint softly, so I don't know if I have both RA and AS, but I am feeling MUCH better on the NSD and now I have better labs that go along with feeling better.

Hey, Valsmum!

Great results! It is a slow process, but break the 28 mark and most of the pain will be behind You; this was my own experience and although it was painfully slow and I had some setbacks, the real test of the NSD is ESR--that eliminates the subjectivity.

Combining antibiotics+NSD for many years now and my latest ESR was officially "1." Even after eating too much starch and not taking any antibiotics for many months, so suppose my gut has healed from all that NSAID damage.

You are so on the right track!

HEALTH,
John

Thank you Zark,
Thank You Lauren,
Thank You John and Thank you Lon for the kind words.

I am hoping this trend continues and my numbers keep going go down, because I know that means less pain. My knees used to swell up so badly I could get 40 cc's of fluid out of them when I had them aspirated, now I would say there is about 10ccs of fluid.
Hopefully in 3 months I will have good news again. smile

Right on! My esr was 49 normal range being 1-20 a few years back. A year ago, I think, it was 21. Then 19 and now, as of august, 14! I just wish my body was reflecting this change better.
Like you said, the inflam in my knees has drastically improved but not totally gone.

Thanks so much for sharing that b/c I wasn't sure if it was the diet or LDN.

Hey Sunnypower,
Good to hear that your ESR has come down. What kind of meds do they suggest for Fibro? Have you tried sulfasalizine? Did it work for you?

I was thinking of trying LDN too.

Can you eat beef? How is sugar or cokes for you?

Take care.

Beef - this is OK with me as long as I don't have any sucrose / alcohol in the meal. I have this weird reaction (inflammatory, but not really AS) when fatty foods and sucrose are combined.

Fructose and honey are safe for me.. This makes me wonder if it is related to IBS/IBD since Carol Sinclair couldn't tolerate sucrose either, and she also finds honey and fructose to be safe.

There is so much talk about fructose being evil, but for me personally fructose is gut/immune friendly, and sucrose is the real demon.

Another weird reaction I have is when fruits/tomatoes are cooked with fat.
Example: apple baked with butter
Example: beef mince cooked in tomato puree (mince is usually pretty fatty)

The reaction is moderate, not severe.. and it only lasts about 4 to 8 hours. Pretty mild in the scheme of things. Very tame when compared to starch.
