If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

you've said you have IBS. so: 1. avoid eggs - try chicken, turkey, pork (lean). do this for 1-2 weeks, see how it goes. then reintroduce eggs and see if your ibs problems get worse. if they do, eggs are a no no. 2. carefull on salad. could be a problem for IBS. i hope you do not use vinegar for it, it will upset your gut mucosa. 3. what kind of cheese? hard cheese? with no lactose inside? this ones i recomend: emmentaller, cheddar, swiss cheese. pretty expensive though. dry cottage cheese it's ok probably, if you do it on your own and it's really really dry so lactose woudl be at a minimum.... 4. avoid yougurt. if you buy yougurt with blackberries - for sure it's not a natural product. must have a lot of thickeners inside. i would avoid milk products and see if avoiding it my ibs would improve. most of root vegetables contains resistive starch. if eaten raw - the starch would pass your system undigested. if cooked, the starch would be released. sorry about your husband. if your bugdet is tight then you are having a big strugle... avoiding starch in your foods, eating raw foods and not pre-prepared, it's not cheap indeed.

lol, I should have kept up on this thread. I've been talking about the need to simplify on others. I went overboard on cutting out all possible problems (inulin, dairy, nightshades), only to just now figure out that those are not my problems. It turns out that SSZ was causing my gut pains. So, I'm back to adding many "off-limit" items back into my diet. Finding the diet that works best for me has been a lot of trial and error. Thankfully, I don't have IBS (knock on wood) to bother me.

Sulphasalazine, and Nimulsulide is the enteric coated SSZ - enteric coated is 'supposed' to cut down the gut side effects, Ha!
I was on SSZ, enteric coated. Four weeks of that poison was enough. Appalling side effects made me so ill that I almost landed up in hospital: vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, anorexia, lethargy, cold extremeties, alopaecia - endless list. Never again - and no more sulpha based drugs nor any foods that contain nitrites, nitrates and sulphurs (preservatives found in meats, sausages, hamburgers, bacon, salami, and dried fruits etc - learn to read ALL food labels very carefully. Will also find in 'flavour enhancers' - all nasty stuff incl MSG, Matodextrine, Mannitol).

A while back, I a full dose (2000 mg/day) of SSZ (Sulphasalazine) would cause me to get a rash when exercising, so I had already cut back to 1000 mg per day. I then started having gut problems, which were severe lower abdominal pains about 15 minutes after eating. The pains would last about 20 minutes. And I continued to have discomfort in my abdomen all the time. It was strange!

Misty - salad, lettuce, can upset the stomach, all varieties. Forget the offending name of the particle in the lettuce, a type of acid I believe. Also need to be careful of parsley in excess - as in chine stuffed thickly with pounded parsley (desperate memories of it...!)
