Thanks Lisa! I hope it goes well for Tori. Having wisdom teeth out at my age isn't so good. The longer they're in there, the more the bone grows around the roots so I had bone come out with the tooth. I'm very happy that I have a supply of pain meds on hand thanks to the RA!

Hi Wendy. I had a wisdom tooth taken out years ago on a Friday afternoon. By Monday I was in hospital with an infection and on IV for days. I couldn't open my mouth enough to even put a thumb in, that's how closed it was. I had a mechanical device, like a vise, that was supposed to slowly open the mouth as it had gears that moved millimeters at a time each day.
I eventually had 2 more surgeries by specialists to clean out more infection in the gums (they split the gums open to get to right area) and after a year or more, I was able to open my mouth normally.
I never went back to that dentist, I can tell ya.
I hope your extraction went smoothly!

OUCH Wendy.

I had all 4 taken out at once. Fortunately, I went into a hospital and an operating room to do it. That was the only way to get insurance to pay for it. I can't imagine doing it while still awake. OOOOOUUUUUCCCCCHHHHH. Hope you feel better.

Yes that is not fun! eek

I had an impacted wisdom tooth extracted just a couple of years ago, which thankfully went easily and healed in no time. I was advised by the oral surgeon to rinse rinse rinse with salt water or, um, what was it, baking soda in water (I think?). 'Dry socket' is incredibly painful possibility and important to avoid, as is any infection.

Hope it heals well for you Wendy! Glad you have pain meds handy.

Eeek. eek2 Feel better soon. hugss

Had all 4 of mine out at the same time, in Army AIT. Spent the rest of the day laying in bed in the barracks, drooling from pain meds. Don't remember what I took, but it sure was potent stuff. In fact, don't remember much of the rest of that day, other than what my roommates told me. LOL.
