Beloved,
I kind of hesitated on posting about my last "event - crisis". Yesterday about 6:30 a.m. I was heating up my big coffee cup with hot water for my "special". I forgot that I had put in less water cause I was leading a mens breakfast after 8 that morning. So with less water in the cup, not wanting to be full, I put it on for the same amount of time, therefore it was boiling. As I pulled the cup out, did I tell you that I am standing there in my briefs???? My pup came from out of site on my left, so I was kind of turning, as much as we can turn with these bodies of ours! My right foot drug the little rug and I slipped on the floor. My feet are real dry anyway, which makes it easy to slide on the purgo flooring. I did not fall to the floor, but for some reason I did manage to pour my large glass of boiling water all over myself.
With just my briefs I did manage not to get a lot of water on anything else, but my rather ample stomach and rather extra large hip and leg. The blister is 14 inches long and about 7 inches wide. I started icing right away. And had a friend from the church drive me to a previously made appointment. The rheumy asked me to stand up and try to bend. I said was burned that morning. He said; "let me see". I lifted my shirt, he pushed back on his chair, I think he was looking for something the size of a dime. Then i said there sis more..... I probably should have warned him: my hip was about three foot from his face!!!! Without being burned, that is quite a shock for the average bear, let alone a young doctor!!! "What are you dong driving 120 miles with a burn like that?" he said. What I said was, "that is not where my worst pain is coming from.... "my oh, my" was what he kept saying. You should be home..finally came out.

Yep, us kickers have an above average constitution...

No hot showers for a week or two....

hugss Ouch, Lon. Be careful with that blister. Well, be careful with everything, for that matter. I think you are right...sometimes, new onset pain doesn't really measure up to what we endure on a regular basis. Hope it heals fast! hugss

Poor thing. :-(

Lon, Oh Lon, How could you be so uncoordinated. I guess I can't talk, I had almost the same thing happen, but with a 12 quart pot of boiling spaghetti water. I'm the pasta maker for our church's monthly spaghetti supper. Fortunately, most of the boiling water went into the sink, and equally fortunately, the part that didn't go into the sink landed on my right leg from the knee down. It's fortunate because of AS and its fun side effects, I have absolutely no feeling in that part of my leg and foot. It did leave a nice blister, that is still discolored to this day. My lovely wife went home to get long pants to cover it up so folks wouldn't be put off since I had shorts on, but other than that the show went on.

Yeah, we're tough alright, provided we get hit in the right spot. Get well, prayers with you.

Kevin,
Nice to hear from you.
It seems some years back our radiators were burning us a few times a year.. It does stink and it still burns, but was not and is not the worst pain of the day...
Nice to see you Kevin, your old friend,
Lon
