If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Ok sorry if I missed it somewhere but can you convert steps into miles? I have bought pedometers and can't ever seem to get a good one that works or works for very long.

Since it is free I should try it and see. I do use the GPS on the iPhone on the weekends when I am going a longer distance. I carry water with me, and have a pocket for the iPhone.

Today's run 4.1 miles in 37:58 minutes. It was cool this morning felt like a fall run.

If I had a desk job, it would be horrid. i feel the same way, that's why i get so aggravated when i have a lot of desk work to do. if i'm fighting a flare, its a horrid combination. the rest of the time, so long as i'm using the swopper chair with lots of bouncy movement, and take frequent leg stretching breaks, i can survive. if i have a lot of grading, that works well in the recliner, with lots of heat on the upper back and ice on the SI. but then too, must be cautious not to overuse the hands. though i must say, they recover a lot faster on the LDN.

they say the average is 2000 steps for a mile.
but the best way is to walk a known distance and see how many steps you took. that's how i calibrated my pedometer. went to the school track and used the pedometer there to calibrate it. is there a local outdoor school track you could walk on to calibrate one.

Sue22 gives a good suggestion on how to get an average, but it depends on so much, that unless you walk the same route each time the converting from steps to miles will be somewhat unreliable. Counting steps is great for motivation but does not tell you much else. You step length changes depending on speed, crowded or open space, straight walking or moving around people, surface, shoes, weather, light, tirednes and in-/decline. It even depends on if you have company while walking.

Not all my strides are the same length, but I figure it averages out over the night. If I'm doing a lot of work at a station and not really taking steps with enough impact to trigger the pedometer, it makes up for the ones that are a little shorter than normal. We should get credit for having to stand on our feet too long, too, right? As for the iPhone app pedometer, I couldn't get two different ones to work right. Phones just don't make good pedometers.
