32 minutes on the stationary bike. Two more weeks in the sling, and then another month with no running.

Hello all!

Good to see you again fergus,

Been walking around at a meeting a lot the last few days. Been trying to pace myself, but when sitting's a challenge, it makes it even harder on the feet.

Honestly I don't know how someone with inflammatory arthritis could live in a city and take public transportation and walk everywhere. I wouldn't be able to do it. Maybe with a biologic, I don't know.

I did what I did last year at a meeting and started methylpred the first day and this year also added in Aleve. And still my feet got so so sore......but at least sorta have been recovering overnight....but too its over now....and now I'm convinced based on this and the not sitting for two months back jan-march that its time to ask for a biologic. Glad I did this right before going back to the rheumy; it was a good reminder that things really shouldn't be this much of a challenge.

Anyway, good for the rest of me, all this walking that is, but oh my aching feet!

Hi roll

I've been waking up in pain lately (x10 more than usual), since that weird wicked pain day last week. Blooming trees? Weird weather? I dunno, but I'm tired of being stuck inside by the pain monster.

So...yesterday I rode my trike around downtown for 3ish miles on meds, because I was bored being in bed. Then my trike broke! no

After that I signed up in a community garden with my daughter-in-law. Dug in the dirt for an hour. Came home, took a hot shower and extra muscle relaxer. Denial much? grin

Today my plan is to swim. So far I've feed myself and only made it from bed to living room. Stay tuned! smokin

Go team! clap

Hi guys,

I tore my calf muscle last SAturday chasing after my little son. Not good.... I am on crutches and a little bit fed up.
Any ideas about when this is going to sort itself out? Any tricks to help it along?

I have to say I am 1 lucky bunny, I have had alot of problems in the last 12 months with various things but my AS has remained dormant. Fingers crossed that doesn´t change!

Hi I'm happy to join in. I go swimming a couple of times a week for half an hour in a 25m pool , but I don't keep count of the laps (so my body can tell me how much I should swim in that half hour, so I don't overdo it, but also because I always lose count)so does that rule me out?

I mainly do breaststroke because my specialist nurse told me it would help open up my chest wall. I do a lap or two of freestyle/crawl but I have trouble with the breathing because of the reduced lung volume (chest wall expands 1cm cf the normal 5cm for my age). I only know how to do freestyle with a breath on the fourth stroke and have trouble getting enough air in for that long now.

Saturday I walked 2 miles with my wife, and then we went to the tulip festival, and walked, and walked.

Hi,

Lu still lame so I can't ride but she is recovering well.

I have done several 2 mile walks up our hill and walks to school to pick up. No where near enough exercise I have been too busy.
AND I finally got myself back in the swimming pool I haven't been for a good while. It was hard going I hadn't realised how much I have stiffened up. It was very uncomfortable my left SI started to hurt immediately when it had been fine?? Luckily it eased of and was fine afterwards.

@ Shirley,
No not counting distance doesn't rule you out any exercise is good. I am glad to hear you swim breast stroke, so do I even though when you read about swimming for AS everything says crawl or swimming on your back! I feel vulnerable/exposed swimming on my back (daft I know) and front crawl I can't do the breathing thing so lots of twisting involved and looking stupid.
I also figure swimming breast stroke stops my back from 'bannana-ing' by making it bend backwards lol.

First golf of the year and although a little sore I survived. Each year I wonder if I'll be able to swing the clubs another year and so the first time out is a milestone. We only have a six month season and it was even shorter this year due to the cold spring so from November to April no chance to play. Looks like I'll be abvle to use that new driver after all.
