Today I swam 1/2 mile in 27 minutes. Again, can I say how much more impressive that sounds than I swam 18 of 20 laps because I was too lazy to finish the last two?

Go TEAM! clap

You were supposed to guess!! tongue3

We went and checked out a local health club with a pool!! We knew about it before, but thought it would be too far, too snobby, and too expensive. But we timed the drive, and it was only 15 minutes, it is very low key and relaxed, and way way cheaper than I thought, especially considering they will "freeze" the membership in the summer months when it is warm enough to use our own little pool. yes

(no one even seems to even notice that I like to swim with my underwater iPod contraption)

So now I can swim year round roll !

Monday: 58 laps, 35 minutes

Yes, Erica and gonnagetwell Lisa! yes

I love it! I use an older iPod classic, with an H20 audio waterproof case. And a waist strap that keeps it out of the way, I tried one of those arm bands first, but it just kept getting all tangled up.

H20 audio

The headphones are the trickiest part. Most of them don't play quite loud enough, and they do tend to stop working after a while. I've had to deal with returning a couple of pairs and getting them replaced.

I expect H20 will probably stop making the iPod classic cases soon, if they haven't already, as the recent iPods are smaller and have touchscreens. But the good news is that they even seem to have them for iPhones and other brands too now...let's all HOPE I don't get one, if I start posting here while I'm swimming underwater...that could seriously affect my lap times! tongue2

I make a separate playlist of high-energy songs that are good for swimming, and whenever I find a new one, I just type into the description of the song a keyword, and then they get added automatically to a "Smart" playlist. With the iPod in shuffle mode, I never know which of one those songs will come up next!

That's what he discovered, too... The earphones give out. And it seems the Aquabeats quit working after about 6 months. He clips his player onto the back of his goggles, and tucks the earphones up under a fabric swim cap. Apple offers a waterproofing deal for iPods.

Could he replace just the headphones on the Aquabeats? The H20 iPod case has sort of an ingenious headphone jack that keeps it waterproof, so I can use different headphones with it. I have one pair sounds quite good (but it is the same model that went flaky before), so I keep up a not-so-good backup pair that doesn't play very loud for tongue2 "emergency" tongue2 use.

No way would mine fit under a swim cap though, with the case on it, it's huge!

58 laps today, in about 35 minutes!

Gotta remember to ask somebody how long this pool is yes
