No matter where I am at or time of day..I hear it and I cry and smile. Especially now with my daddy's cancer. He's an amazing man. And had a tremendous amount of patience AND wisdom to offer buggie. For that I will be forever grateful. And his unconditional love. hugss

Well, now that you mention it buggie, that made me a little misty too...and happy. I was in exceptional shape at that time...riding my bike like a animal...walking new cross country routes in the high sierras over incredible passes...I'm just glad I did that stuff. I was just having fun!

me too! i didn't own a car during college or grad school so i walked and biked everywhere and had a great time doing it! i ran and swam and played tennis too! it was so great to be so active!

hubby and i did lots of hiking around as well. we loved vacations in the mountains or at the beach. and we'd walk and walk and explore like crazy. we also rented bikes at the national seashore on cape cod. we were going to rent bikes and ride down the mountain in maui at sunrise, but chose to sleep in instead. but we did explore every nook and cranny on the road to hana, the trip (by car) took us like 10 hours, we stopped and explored so much. it could have taken longer, but we speeded up the end so we could get to the inn before they closed their doors for the night.

i too am so glad i did all of this when i could.

we have a lot of natural areas up here and still take walks when we can, but its not always a given. maybe that's why i appreciate it all the more when i can.

but the 80s, in my 20s, they were some good times! and i love my music from back then as well. smile

read in the thread about alcohol that you work at a vineyard, what a lovely place to be able to walk around i'm sure smile

though our university is out in the suburbs surrounded by undeveloped land, it really is a concrete jungle, no where very pleasant to walk, and hard on the feet. at home i walk on the side of the road, on blacktop some, but also on grass and dirt. or down a dirt path, along the dirt towpath of the erie canal, or in our grassy back field. i wish i had someone decent to walk at work that didn't kill my feet, as now that darkness descends earlier and earlier, finding time to walk is becoming a major challenge. doing it before work would be the obvious option, but for those of us who need time at the beginning of the day to start moving, that would come with its own set of challenges. i do plan to get a stationary recumbent bike and walk on the weekends for sure, but i guess i'm lamenting and mourning the passing of my daily walk. i went out today and though my knee made it slow going, it was so good for the rest of me: helped my migraine, helped my overall body (its kind of unhappy due to GI distress), good for my upper back, and didn't seem to bother my SI. its just so good for my soul to be out walking amongst nature: the beauty of the clouds and sky or sunset, the sound of the birds, the smell of the flowers, wood burning in fireplaces as it cools down, the cool breeze on my face, its so therapeutic.

today: walked: 1.5 miles, 40 minutes
