If you want to use this QR code (Quick Response code) just save the image and paste it where you want. You can even print it and use it that way. Coffee cups, T-Shirts etc would all be good for the QR code.

Shug saw his consultant on Tuesday. He had all his measurements done and nothing has changed since his last visit 6 months ago. They've now decided to class the disease in areas of the body...so Shug has severe issues with is neck and moderate issues with his back and hips (tell him it's moderate when he can't get out of bed!).
Anyway, his professor has asked him to up his dose from one injection per fortnight to one per week and to try this for 3 months, he'll be seen again then.
Is anyone taking the regular dose of Humira weekly instead of every two weeks? How do you find it? Any change in blood results? Any change in your condition?
Shug has started using a walking stick as he's now starting to on an occasion be unsteady on his feet, he also tires so easily. His physio advised against it 2 years ago but it has made such a difference to him.
Take care

Hi I haven't heard of anyone going on a double dose that seems extreme to me but what do I know. Sounds to me like a lot of he's pain is like mine and damage related and Humira wont get rid of that pain.Is he's inflammation very high. I use my stick all the time now it is a great help to keep your balance and prevent falling over. And I'm tired constantly can sleep any time.

There are a lot of people who take Humira every week instead of every other week. Sometimes the med just doesn't last long enough for two weeks. The people who do the one a week shots seem to do quite well. Perhaps one of the once-a-week people will post here. Just give it a bit of time. Donna

Thanks Donna, I didn't realise they were taking the full dose every week.

Hi there, it's been far too long!
I am sorry to hear there's been no appreciable improvement in Shug's disease progression. That said, it doesn't sound like it deteriorated too badly either. I hope the extra dosing of Humira helps make things move positively.
You really must pop by more frequently, you know. We miss you around here.
Warm hugs,
Kat

Hi, I'm sorry to hear Shug's measurements aren't improving... is he feeling any better pain-wise? Yes, a "moderate" definition sure doesn't feel moderate at times!!! For about 6 months, I used double the normal dose of enbrel. It did seem to help better than the single dose, for pain and stiffness. Not a huge difference, but it was noticeable (and worth the extra jab). I just made sure to be more cautious in avoiding germs because it does affect your immune system a tiny bit more. I had no change in blood results though. Good luck to him. Sending hugs!

Hi,
Just stopping by to say I do take the full dose of Humira every week instead of every other week. While I am still seeing destruction, I have no fusing at all. In addition, it took away all of my GI pain (which was huge for me). I am now able to do yoga 7 days a week - something that was impossible before.
I'd like to say I'm pain free, but my SI joints are in rough shape so I still have quite a bit. As for blood, I've seen no changes and I switched to every week about 2 and a half months ago.
Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone. I'll let you know in time if there's any improvement. I'm concerned about his LFT's as he was taken off Enbrel because of a huge jump in them. LFT's returned to normal when enbrel was stopped. He then started Humira and LFT's jumped again but they kept him on it and monitored him every other week. After a while (can't remember the time frame) his bloods returned to normal but he's still monitored every other week. I'm just hoping we don't see huge improvements but huge jumps in levels at the same time, it's harder knowing something works but not being able to continue than it not working in the first place.
Hi Kat I pop in here now and then...don't get as much time now I'm working (just about to switch jobs tomorrow!) and I admit to being a FB addict (as some of you know..hehe)
Take care
