Ran 2.25 miles this morning. Didn't run far because I am saving my legs for the half marathon on Saturday. It is 4 miles up hill then 9 miles down hill.

Sue, talking about your spine reminded me of something I read last night in the awesome trigger point workbook. Another reason it is so important to sit up straight is because when we slouch we sit on the very tip/end of our spine. OUCH. All that pressure right there on the tip causes myriad other problems and pains. Now I straighten up and think of that several times a day.

So everyone together now. Sit up straight. Roll your hips forward and viola!! Now you're sitting on your cheeks and not the tip of your spine.

On an exercise note, I got up to go to a swiss ball class and couldn't move because my hammies were so tight from picking up litter. Ohhhhhhhh well, the world is a cleaner place today. smile

you're absolutely correct about sitting! that's why i spent the money to buy swopper chairs, one for work, another for home, really the only chairs that don't bother my back, unless its already been bothered by something else. not only does the constant motion from the spring strengthen the lower back muscles, but the tilt that you can achieve puts the body in the proper pelvic tilt.

if i am elsewhere and seating is limited, i find a small firm chair and sit at the very very edge to force the proper pelvic tilt. my physiatrist showed me that, but i told her i already discovered it too, great minds think alike! helps take the stress off the upper back muscles. even rock on the front legs of the chair if its a light enough chair.

but if the rhomboid area is already inflamed, then all load has to be off those muscles: no sitting, no lifting of the left arm, no use of those muscles / tendons until some healing has begun.

who ever knew sitting was such a hard thing for the body to do, even when done properly.

Hi Donette

Glad you have mentioned this because I have notice that the last few days I am slouching about more. I do when I am getting depressed, so I will have to put more effort in

I do have one good method though. I have programmed myself to think 'sit up straight' each time I stop at traffic lights, I also give my hips a little wiggle. It's my way of adding a bit of excercise without taking any extra time out of my day

Love Joanne

hola sue..heck i dont know how i do it either..its a work in progress. pain is vicious. it made my life miserable for years full blown 10 yrs ago and back for over 21 yrs. i guess b/c for that short time i forget or make myself forget. they tell us to work through the pain. to push through it.. i have made myself to. but come night and mornings i am a mess. laugh2

i've tried so many meds. deathly allergic to a few. so for now my friends are norco and my all time fav soma. i was always a sickly kid in gym as a teen -back pain, couldnt do bleechers up and down. got an F in there and my mom had to raise caine at my school. heart i feel like it's a huge accomplishment. even though it's small in reality. but when u have pain like us AS folks in our face non stop..any accomplishment achieved is a stomp on the AS monsters head and that is all worth it! hugss
